Eric Harry Timothy Mabius (born April 22, 1971) is an American actor.

He graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, with a degree in cinema studies.

Mabius made his film debut in the 1995 independent dark comedy Welcome to the Dollhouse after appearing in theaters. Mabius gained a following for his role as Daniel Meade on ABC's comedy-drama program Ugly Betty.

He appeared on the showtime series The Word and also appeared in the films Cruel Intentions, Salvation, and Resident Evil.

Life

Mabius was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the son of Elizabeth (née Dziczek) and Craig Mabius. His father worked as a historian preserving Historic Allaire Village. Craig is his brother. Mabius is Catholic. After attending Amherst Regional High School in Amherst, Massachusetts, where he was named "Most Dramatic Girly" as a senior, he enrolled in Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York, where he continued his film theory education.

Ivy Sherman, an interior designer, and Mabius were first introduced in high school during a health education class.

Career

Mabius began his career in 1990, Welcome to the Dollhouse (1995), I Shot Andy Warhol (1996), and Black Circle Boys (1997). He appeared in The Crow's third installment as one of Top Dollar's henchmen, and he appeared as Alex Corvis in The Crow: Salvation (2000), opposite Kirsten Dunst. He was in Cruel Intentions (1999) with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Phillippe. Matt Addison appeared in Resident Evil's 2002.

Mabius has appeared on television programs such as Chicago Hope, Millennium, Popular, The O.C., and the short-lived series Eyes (2005). He appeared in every episode of The L Word's first season, third, and sixth seasons as Tim Haspel. He also appeared on an episode of CSI: Miami. Daniel Meade, a fashion journalist journalist on ABC's Ugly Betty, appeared from 2006 to 2010. After the success of Ugly Betty, he was included on People magazine's "Sexiest Men Alive" list in 2006. Mabius appeared in the 2006 Lifetime original film A Christmas Wedding and played a leading role in the British science-fiction drama series Outcasts.

Mabius appeared in a season 2 episode of Scandal in 2013. He appeared in Hallmark Channel's Signed, Sealed, Delivered film series the same year.
