Early life and career

Geoffrey Davies' father, a stage and television actor, influenced her decision of career greatly. He would often encourage her to watch his stage performances from the wings as a child. "Knew all the lines," she says.

Emma was also landed on the 1970s sitcom The Fenn Street Gang for her first television appearance. "I was in a hurry and had to stuff an ice cream cone into someone's face," she says. When she was 14 years old, she appeared in a television commercial for Colgate toothpaste.

She studied at the Corona Theatre School in London and has been active in small television roles since the mid-1980s. She has appeared in television series Heartbeat, Doctors, and Sky One's Dream Team during this time.

Jo Daly, a teenager, appeared in Boon's Midlands based drama from 1987 to 1989, her first television appearance was as a child. Juliette Bannerman appeared on the ITV soap Families in 1993.

In the Channel Four mini-series Mosley, Emma depicted the controversial historical figure Diana Mitford (later Diana Mitford-Guinness and Lady Diana Mosley).
