Life and career

Emily Symons' mother remarried when she was just four years old, but Symons didn't know her biological, English father again until ten years later. She left school before completing her exams and launching herself into acting. She worked in stores for almost a year before taking a break in a post-office education film.

Richmond Hill, Australia's first high-profile role. Symons enrolled in another Australian drama, Home and Away, where she appeared in 1989 to 1992, reprising the role in 1995 until 1999. Video Smash Hits is also a host of Channel 7's music show Video Smash Hits.

Symons wanted to move to England after appearing in a string of pantomimes. Louise Appleton, a barmaid, appeared in the ITV1 soap opera Emmerdale from 2001 to 2008. She was also a contestant in the 2007 series Dancing on Ice, but she was disqualified from the semi-finals against Blue's Duncan James.

Symons has since returned to Australia permanently, and has revived playing Home and Away's Marilyn Chambers from episode 5035, which aired in Australia on 19 March 2010 and has remained unchanged since.
