Career

In the 1995 television version of Rebecca, opposite Charles Dance, Fox first appeared as Georgiana, the sister of Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy. Vanessa Radcliffe, a young woman from an affluent family who is forced to leave her house after becoming pregnant, appeared in Catherine Cookson's The Round Tower in 1998. In the 2000 version of Randall and Hopkirk, Fox played Jeannie Hurst.

Dorota, a charming, blond, non-Jewish cellist who adores the playing of Polish pianist and composer Wadyszpilman (played by Adrien Brody), appeared in The Pianist in 2002. Roman Polanski directed the film. Jane Seymour appeared in a two-part television biographical film about King Henry VIII in 2003. She appeared in Katherine Howard, directed by Robin Lefevre at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 1998.

Silent Witness, a crime drama, appeared in 2004. She is still in the show and has now played Nikki Alexander for seventeen years as of 2021. Lady Margaret appeared in Part 2 of Gunpowder, Treason and Plot, as the daughter of James I (James VI in Scotland) and the Gunpowder Plot. Fox performed Amy Dudley, the first wife of Robert Dudley played by Tom Hardy, in 2005, and she remains a central character in the series. In 2008, she appeared in Baillie Walsh's Flashbacks of a Fool, which also featured Daniel Craig. Billie Piper, who would later marry her first cousin Laurence Fox, who died in 2016, appeared on Things To Do Before You're 30.

Lynne Frederick appeared in the 2004 film The Life and Death of Peter Sellers, which starred Geoffrey Rush in the lead role. In the final edit, a whole segment of the film focusing on the Frederick/Sellers relationship was cut off, but she can be seen briefly in a background shot towards the end of the film. Among the special features on the DVD release of the film are the deleted scenes with Fox.

When Fox and Rebecca co-star Charles Dance appeared together in the ITV1 mini-series Fallen Angel, Fox played serial murderer Rosie Byfield, with Dance playing as her father. The show was shot in a rewind style, and Fox's character was traced back to the formation of his killer streak. Both Fox and Dance appeared in ITV's Henry VIII, but Dance's role as the Duke of Buckingham was limited because his character was arrested for treason less than 15 minutes into the first half, while Fox's scenes as the doomed third queen Jane Seymour dominated the first half of the second episode. Fox played the role of "Bettina" in the 2008 English language DVD re-release of the cult 2006 Norwegian animated film Free Jimmy. Simon Pegg wrote the dialogue; Pegg and Woody Harrelson appeared alongside Pegg; other actors included Pegg himself and Woody Harrelson. Emilia Fox narrates the famous children's book We're Going on a Bear Hunt (by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury) with Kevin Whately in a special edition book and DVD set. In the second series of BBC's Merlin, she appeared as Morgause. She appeared in the third and fourth series. In the Channel 4 documentary The Queen, she portrayed Queen Elizabeth II.

Lady Winters, the Doctor Who Adventure Game, The Gunpowder Plot, (2011), narrated her story. She had appeared in Nevermore's Eighth Doctor audio drama Before that, she had appeared as Berenice.

Julia Swetlove appeared in J. K. Rowling's book The Casual Vacancy in 2015. Vanessa Hamilton appeared in series 2 of The Tunnel as Vanessa Hamilton the following year. Sam Vincent appeared in Delicious, a Sky television drama, from 2016-18. Silent Witness, a Fox actor, returned to BBC1 in January 2018.
