Emeraude Tobina (born March 1, 1989) is a Canadian-born American actress and singer who portrayed Isabelle Lightwood in the Freeform fantasy series Shadowhunters.
She appeared on the Venevisión telenovelas Cosita linda as Dulce Rincón and Voltea pa', a part of Mexican and Lebanese descent, before she became Stephanie Karam.
Early life
Toubia was born in Montreal, Quebec. She was born in Brownsville, Texas, as an only child. Mirta Sonia (née Solis), her mother, was born and raised in Ciudad, Mexico, and her father, Lebanese-American, was born and raised. Her paternal grandparents came from Lebanon's Koura District.
She was classically trained in classical ballet, flamenco, belly dancing, and lyrical dance as an infant. Toubia received her secondary education at Homer Hanna High School in Brownsville. Toubia had competed in numerous beauty pageants before she crowned Miss South Texas, Miss Rio Grande Valley America, and Miss Teen Brownsville, all 15 years old; she was crowned Miss South Texas, Miss Rio Grande Valley America; and Miss Teen Brownsville.
Personal life
Prince Royce was the first toyoe to play in Toubia in 2011. They were married in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, on November 30, 2018. The couple own a home in Studio City, Los Angeles. In March 2022, the two couples announced plans to divorce.
Toubia is a charity that promotes Get Schooled; On May 26, 2016, she visited Middle College High School in San Bernardino, California, to visit students and act as their "celebrity principal" for the day.
Career
Toubia's first television appearance on Televisa's children's program El Mundo de los Nios, aged ten, was in 1999. When she was chosen to attend the second season of Univision beauty pageant competition Nuestra Belleza Latina, where the participants were intensively trained in acting, presenting, dancing, and other sports; Toubia came in first runner-up. Since then, she has appeared in advertisements for companies including Maybelline, J. C. Penney, Sony, Garnier, and AT&T.
She appeared in fifth place in 2009 on the second season of Model Latina. Miss Texas USA 2010 - she was a semifinalist. Toubia appeared on several NBC Universo music and entertainment programs, including The Arena, 18 & Over, and mun2POP. She co-hosted the mun2 red carpet special for the 2013 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Toubia made her acting debut on the Nickelodeon Latin America youth telenovela 11-11: En mi cuadra cuadra, for which she was coached by Academy Award-nominated actress Adriana Barraza.
