Elizabeth II Life

Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, born 21 April 1926) is the queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms, and she was educated privately at home.

On the inauguration of his brother King Edward VIII in 1936, her father returned to the throne, extending the time she was the heir presumptive.

She began serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during the Second World War and began to perform public service during the Second World War.

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, a former King of Greece and Denmark with whom she has four children; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. Elizabeth became queen regnant of seven Commonwealth countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Ceylon when her father died in February 1952.

She has reigned as a constitutional monarch through major political shifts, including devolution in the United Kingdom, Canadian Patriation, and decolonization of Africa.

The number of her realms changed between 1956 and 1992, and Ceylon (renamed Sri Lanka) became republics as nations expanded.

Among her many memorable visits and meetings include a state visit to Ireland and visits to or from five popes.

Her coronation in 1953 and the naming of her Silver, Golden, and Diamond Jubilees in 1977, 2002, and 2012 were among the events that commemorated her.

In 2017, she became the first British monarch to receive a Sapphire Jubilee.

She is the longest-lived and longest-serving British monarch, as well as the world's longest-serving female monarch, longest-serving monarch, and the country's longest-serving monarch. Elizabeth has occasionally been subjected to republican sentiments and newspaper critique of the royal family, including the demise of her children's marriages, her annus horribilis in 1992, and Princess of Wales Diana's 1997 death.

However, support for the monarchy has remained and has been strong in the United Kingdom, as has her personal celebrity.

Early life

Princess Elizabeth was born at 02:40 (GMT) on April 21, 1926, during the reign of her paternal grandfather, King George V. Her father, Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI), was the second son of the King. Elizabeth, Duchess of York (later Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother) was the youngest daughter of Scottish aristocrat Claude Bowes-Lyon, 14th Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne. Princess Elizabeth was born in Mayfair by the Caesarean section, which was her grandfather Lord Strathmore's London home. Elizabeth was baptized by the Anglican Archbishop of York, Cosmo Gordon Lang, in the private chapel of Buckingham Palace on May 29; Alexandra after her paternal grandmother, who had died six months earlier; and Mary after her paternal grandmother. Her close family, based on what she referred to as "Lilibet"), adored her grandfather George V, whom she affectionately named "Grandpa England," and her regular visits during his serious illness in 1929 were credited in the national press and later biographers for raising his spirits and assisting him in his recovery.

Princess Margaret, Elizabeth's older sibling, was born in 1930. Marion Crawford, the two princesses, were educated at home under the tutee of their mother and their governess. Lessons were mainly based on history, literature, literature, and music. In 1950, Crawford published The Little Princesses, a chronicle of Elizabeth and Margaret's childhood years, much to the royal family's dismay. Elizabeth's book explores her obsession with horses and dogs, her orderliness, and her attitude of accountability. Some shared Winston Churchill's description of Elizabeth as "a character" when she was two. In an infant, she has an air of power and a keenness. Margaret Rhodes described her as "a jolly little girl, but also very intelligent and well behaved."

Despite winning a Military Cross for valour, Major Bruce Shand (pictured left in 1946) was a modest and self-effacing man who chose not to speak about his wartime exploits until his grandchildren were born.
