Edgar Froese Life

Edgar Willmar Froese (6 June 1944 – January 20, 2015), a German artist and electronic music pioneer who is best known for the creation of Tangerine Dream.

Although his solo and group recordings before 2003 identified him as "Edgar Froese," his solo albums from 2003 onwards bear the spelling "Edgar W. Froese."

Personal life

Froese declared himself vegetarian, teetal, and non-smoker; he did not take medications. Froese was married to artist and photographer Monika (Monique) Froese from 1974 to her death in 2000. Jerome Froese, the son of Tangerine Dream, was a member from 1990 to 2006. Edgar Froese married Bianca Froese-Acquaye in 2002.

Froese died in Vienna on January 20, 2015 from a pulmonary embolism. In 2015, he was honoured with the Schallwell Honorary Award for Lifetime Achievement. "There is no death, there is only a change in our cosmic address," he said on the BBC for the first time.

Froese was a friend of such artists as David Bowie, Brian Eno, Iggy Pop, George Moorse, Volker Schlöndorff, Alexander Hacke, and Friedrich Gulda. Pop and Bowie lived with Froese and his family at their home in Schöneberg before transferring to their apartment on Hauptstraße. Froese has also aided Bowie in his drug withdrawal and introduced him to the Berlin underground scene. Froese's solo album Epsilon in Malaysian Pale had a lot of fame and served as a soundtrack to his life in Berlin, according to Bowie.
