Eden Black Life

Eden Black (born 28 January 1981) is the ring name of a retired British professional wrestler who competed internationally on the independent circuit in markets such as Real Quality Wrestling, Shimmer Women Athletes, and ChickFight, among others.

She was known for her wrestling attire, opting for loose-fitting street clothes similar to Homicide's, her strike-based style of combat, and her friendship with fellow wrestler JP Monroe.

Concerning serious female wrestling, Fighting Spirit Magazine exclusively referred to her and competitor Jetta as "spearheading a revolution in British wrestling."

Eden Black Career

Professional wrestling career

Since being captivated by the World Wrestling Federation at a young age, particularly Ultimate Warrior, Black became interested in the late '90s by the age of 18. After achieving a 2:1 in journalism and Contemporary History, Black began attending independent shows in Barking Town Hall, East London, and after being inspired by wrestlers such as Robbie Brookside and James Mason, Black took her own hand at wrestling through the NWA UK Hammerlock academy in Kent, where she would compete in her first matches, mainly against royals.

In 2004, she came back to wrestle for Hammerlock as part of an Independent Wrestling Federation Ladies Night to raise funds for Cancer research. After beating Jade in the first round, she fell to eventual winner Lexie Fyfe in the Irish Whip Wrestling, as well as defeating Skye in the second televised show of LDN Wrestling, Caesar's Beatings, where she defeated Coventry-born wrestler Jetta, sparking a long-running feud between the two teams. Jetta was inserted into a three-way match for the vacant Real Quality Wrestling Women's Championship in Summer Brawl, where Black won her first title. She was initially successful in all her matches until Black and partner JP Monroe lost in an intergender tag team match, which culminated in a no-contest when Monroe turned on Black; the second match ended in a no-contest when Monroe came on Black.

Black started with RQW's No Pain, No Gain in 2007, and she was forced to defend her Women's Championship against American wrestlers Melissa and MsChif, but she lost singles matches against them on the next day, first to MsChif. The day after this was the first ChickFight to be held in the United Kingdom, where Black advanced to the finals of a three-round tournament after defeating Daizee and Lacey but falling short against Melissa. Melissa's feud with Melissa continued on RQW's Taking on the World, where she teamed with Melissa Johnson to face the Cheerleader and her own long-serving adversary Jetta. The game also served as a warm-up for ChickFight VIII, where Black was supposed to meet Melissa again to crown the first TransAtlantic Champion; Black came out on the losing side of both matches.

MsChif and Melissa were not the only ones to lose to American wrestlers, but not strictly to them. At the fifth year Festival in Liverpool, she put aside her long-running rivalry with Jetta to team up with Allison Danger and Sara Del Rey. Allison Danger won the Women's Championship during an RQW tournament, and Black will keep the belt after the match went to a fifteen-minute time limit draw. Eden Black then began to play regularly in Chicago's all-female Shimmer Women Athletes, eventually winning over an American celebrity in the form of Rain, who pleaded guilty to her Garden of Eden hold on Volume 9. Black was entered in a knock-out tournament in June to crown the first Shimmer Champion, but Lacey, Rain's fellow Minnesota Home Wrecking Crew member, lost in the first round; coincidentally, the two teams would later team up with Jetta to form The International Home Wrecking Crew. Nikki Roxx pinned her in a four-way match with the Barbie Crusher the day after this. Black had a chance to settle an old score when she took on Lexie Fyfe, who had beat her early on in her career in 2004. It was her Garden of Eden entry that earned her the victory. Black's triumph continued into Volume 14 in October, where she forced her rival, this time Amber O'Neal, to tap out to the Garden of Eden. In the inaugural match of the International Home Wrecking Crew, she teamed with MsChif and Daizee Haze in her last Shimmer appearance to date. Even if Black did not win the game herself, she was part of the winning team and she was pinned after 25 minutes following Haze's Heart punch/Yakuza kick combo.

Despite being relatively successful in America months before her final SHIMMER appearance, Black lost her RQW Women's Championship to German wrestler Wesna, a 16 June RQW event, with Jetta and Amazing Kong also competing in the four way elimination match. At ChickFight IX.5, she and Wesna were rematching in a singles match, but it came as if Black had used a foreign object, thus disqualified. Black chastised Jetta out of the building, but the pair were scheduled for a grudge match later that night, giving Jetta a taste of her own medicine; Black attacked her from behind during her entry, resulting in a brawl that culminated in a brawl all around the ring, with Black losing as Jetta used the ropes for the pin. Since Black was on the winning side of the tag team match in Shimmer, it became apparent that the two teams would have to resolve their feud one-on-one, and RQW has arranged the match in October. However, the much awaited match ended in a double count out, owing to the intense combat between the two teams, although Black had actually suffered a legitimate shoulder injury during the match and could not continue.

Black will not appear again until April at a ChickFight event where she made an emotional announcement that was interrupted by Jetta who made Black clearly state that she was the reason Black resigned, but she would have to acknowledge it was Jetta who dismissed her, but she would not be able to lift her knees and acknowledge Black's superiority if she wins Jetta. Jetta expressed her dissatisfaction early on in the evening, smashing Faith LeHaine with a Japanese stranglehold and spending the majority of the match against Black, but Black retaliated, placing the Garden of Eden around the ring post and eventually locking it on Jetta, causing her to tap out. Following the match, Black revealed that she did not need Jetta to go on her knees because she had just demonstrated her invincibility in the match. She later announced that she had dropped out of wrestling.
