Earl Falconer Life

UB40, an English reggae and pop band, formed in Birmingham, England, in December 1978.

The band has had more than 50 singles on the UK Singles Chart, as well as significant international success.

They have been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album four times, as well as in 1984 for Best British Group.

UB40 has set over 70 million records worldwide.

The band's original line-up was diverse, with singers from England, Welsh, Irish, Jamaican, Scottish, and Yemeni parentage among their hits. "Red Red Wine" and "Can't Help Falling in Love were two of Billboard Hot 100 number one singles.

Both of these songs also topped the UK Singles Chart, as did the band's version of "I Got You Babe."

Labour of Love (1983) and Promises and Lies (1993), the couple's two most popular albums, reached number one on the UK Albums Chart.

Madness, an English ska band, holds the most weeks spent by a group in the UK singles chart during the 1980s, with 214 weeks to go.

Astro, the original band's member, remained with the band until November 2013, when he split from the group to work with Campbell and Virtue in a new version of UB40.

The original band, guitarist Jimmy Brown, bassist Earl Campbell, bassist Norman Hassan, and percussionist Duncan Hassan, all of whom acted against the group containing Campbell, Virtue, and Astro, in 2014, sought legal assistance from both bands (now consisting of founding members drummer Jimmy Brown, drummer Rob Campbell, drummer Norman Hassan, and percussionist Duncan Hassan, along with new vocalist Duncan Travers).
