Duane Jerome Courtney (born 7 January 1985) is an English semi-professional footballer who plays for Midland League Premier Division club Highgate United.
He has played for Burnley in the Football League. Courtney began his education in Derby County as a schoolboy and then played for Birmingham City as a trainee.

Personal life
Courtney was born in Oldbury, West Midlands. He lived in Birmingham with his wife and two children before moving to York City in 2010. However, he struggled to settle in York and after leaving the club in 2011, he returned to Birmingham.
Career
Courtney first joined the Derby County youth system in 1999 as a schoolboy before moving to Birmingham City as a student in 2001. He was also a Birmingham reserve team player. After being invited by former Birmingham player Craig Fagan to the club, he went on trial with Colchester United in April 2004. Following a hearing, Courtney, who was not offered professional terms, considered giving up football before joining AFC Telford United in August. He scored for Telford in a 4–2 loss to Kidsgrove Athletic in the FA Trophy preliminary round in October, the team's first match in the tournament. Courtney was instrumental in the 2005 Northern Premier League First Division play-off Final, winning the club promotion to the Northern Premier League Premier Division. In the summer of 2005, he was named Telford's Supporters' Player of the Season, Manager's Player of the Season, and Players' Player of the Season, and Players' Player of the Season.
After a trial with Burnley, he attracted interest from Football League clubs, and on August 31, 2005, he agreed to a two-year contract with a sell-on clause after deciding not to join Wolverhampton Wanderers. In the 89th minute of a 1–0 victory over Leicester City on October 18, he was a substitute in a 1–0 loss to Aston Villa in the League Cup on October 25th. Burnley's first and only start came in a 3–2 victory over Luton Town on November 5th, in which he put on a good show. He played in all competitions from 2006–07 and was named in the Welsh Premier League Team of the Year for the year, having been a key player of the team that won the League and the FAW Premier Cup. Courtney appeared for TNS in both legs of their 4–4 draw on aggregate with FK Ventspils in the 2007–08 UEFA Champions League first qualifying round, a result that brought the team's participation in the tournament to an end due to the away goal rule. In all competitions, he finished 2007–08 with 29 appearances and one goal. Courtney signed a one-year deal with Kidderminster Harriers in September 2009 after "composed performances" on trial in pre-season. In the 66th minute of a 1–0 win over Hayes & Yeading United on August 8, 2009, he made his first appearance in a 1–0 loss to Salisbury City due to Liam Dolman's absence. Despite an injury, he played against Tamworth on August 31, 2009, and although he was still suffering from the injury, he was still playing in the upcoming match, a 2–0 loss to Eastbourne Borough. On a one-year deal, he joined Kidderminster's Conference Premiership rivals York City on May 24. On August 14, 2010, the opposition's first match in a 2–1 loss to former club Kidderminster, the 76th-minute replacement, and he forfeited a penalty kick in the 89th minute that was not scored by the opposition.
