Andrew "Drew" Powell (born January 19, 1976) is an American actor.
He is best known for his appearances on PAX's Ponderosa, Cadet Drew on Malcolm in the Middle, and Butch Gilzean/Cyrus Gold/Solomon Grundy, a series regular on FOX's Gotham.
Life and career
Powell was born in Noblesville, Indiana, and grew up in Lebanon, Indiana, after graduating from Lebanon Senior High School. He graduated from DePauw University in 1998 and then moved to Los Angeles, where he began auditioning for acting roles straight away.
He first appeared on Fox's Malcolm in the Middle. He appeared in thirteen episodes. He portrayed Hoss Cartwright on the television series The Ponderosa, a prequel to Bonanza that premiered in 2001 on PAX shortly after. Powell has appeared on many television shows, including Psyche, House, Leverage, ER, Cold Case, and Without a Trace. Butch Gilzean, the chief enforcer for Fish Mooney on Fox's Gotham, appears on Fox's Gotham (Jada Pinkett Smith).
In the 2011 film Straw Dogs, a recreation of the 1971 film of the same name, he portrayed Bic. Rod Lurie produced the film, which starred James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, and Alexander Skarsghrd. It was published on September 16, 2011.
Powell met his wife, Veronica, who was a make-up artist on the show, while shooting The Ponderosa in Australia. They have one son, Leo, who was born in January 2011. They live in Los Angeles.
