Early life and education
Drew Goldberg was born in Dallas, Texas, and he grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was given the name "Binsky" by his family, who was of Jewish German origins. In 2009, he went to Israel for his first trip out of the world. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating in 2013 with degrees in economics and entrepreneurship. He began a study abroad program in Prague, Czech Republic, during his third year at university. He lived in more than 20 countries around Europe for a semester and wondered whether or not traveling would be profitable.
Personal life
Binsky proposed to Deanna Sallao in May 2021. He had aspirations of being a professional golfer since graduating college. He plays and reviews golf courses around the world as part of his travels. He lives in Arizona as of 2020.
Career
Binsky worked as an English teacher in Seoul, South Korea, after college. He spent 18 months in Asia and travelled to 20 countries in Asia during that time. In January 2015, he resigned from teaching and began focusing on traveling full time. He had visited 73 countries by October 2015. "The Hungry Partier" (later renamed "Drew Binsky) began a blog and began posting his travels on Instagram and Snapchat, and then began posting his travels.
Deanna Sallao's girlfriend bought him a camera in 2017, which led him to film and post videos on his YouTube channel (also called "Drew Binsky"). He shared a video of an organized trip to North Korea on his YouTube and Facebook pages in May 2017. Over ten million views were collected on the video. Binsky also started gaining money from YouTube and Facebook advertisement sales, as well as sponsorship agreements with various companies. He has over 4 million followers on social media and holds two Guinness World Records: visiting the most UNESCO Heritage sites in a 24-hour period and the fastest suitcase packing. He began working from Bangkok, Thailand, in 2018.
Binsky met Zablon Simintov, who was thought to be the only remaining Jew in Afghanistan at the time, and featured him in a video that had over 1 million views in 2019.
Binsky's Border 197, a forthcoming documentary about his travels, will be released in 2020. He is the Guinness World Record holder for the Most UNESCO World Heritage Sites visited in 24 hours and in the fastest time to pack a suitcase (35.59 seconds).
