Dr. Disrespect, a call of duty and Halo veterans, as well as Sumit Gupta acting as CEO, announced the founding of Midnight Society in December 2021. The studio's goal is to provide a "day-zero" community experience, where the players will have the ability to determine the games' "feature prioritization, pivotal layout decisions, and fuel innovation in the shooter genre, with a strong emphasis on online player versus player multiplayer games. The selling of "Founder's Access" NFTs, which is coded "Project Moon," sparked outrage.
Beahm's on-stream persona is usually ruthless, quick-witted, and bombastic. He's often thought of as an entertainer in the streaming market rather than a "professional gamer." He has expressed his dissatisfaction with "aim assist" mechanics in first-person shooters (a feature that is supposed to make aiming safer) that only function with players using a console, but not so active against mouse-and-keyboard players like himself. He argues that computer-wielding players who enable it to have an unfair advantage over mouse-and-keyboard gamers, who claim that the mechanic's skill sets it down so much that it's "like a hacker," even going so far as to compare it to cheating by labeling it "like a hacker." TimTheTatman, a fellow streamer, has stated explicitly in reaction, "if the controller is so bad, play controller," since the mechanic is not technically "illegal" because it is a developer-implemented feature.
