Don Mitchell Life

Don Michael Mitchell (March 17, 1943 – December 8, 2013) was an American actor best known for his appearance in the NBC television series Ironside (1967-1975).

Mitchell appeared in the role of Mark Sanger and reprised his role in the 1993 made-for-TV "reunion" film, which was also his last television appearance.

Personal life and death

Mitchell was married to Emilie Blake, with whom he had a child, Dawn Mitchell, from 1969 to 1970. Mitchell married actress Judy Pace in 1972, who later divorcing in 1984. Mitchell and Pace's two children, actress Julia Pace Mitchell, who appears on CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, and attorney Shawn Meshelle Mitchell are married together. Mitchell died of natural causes at his Encino, Los Angeles, on December 8, 2013, at the age of 70.

Early life and career

Mitchell, a native of Houston, grew up on his grandfather's farm. At his high school in Houston, he was "excelled in both football and basketball." He began his postsecondary education at Los Angeles City College, where he transferred to the University of California, Los Angeles, where he studied acting. Mitchell appeared in Ironside as a director and producer, Collier Young, saw him on stage in a Poor Bitos production and agreed to him for the show three weeks before production began. Mitchell has appeared on television as McMillan & Wife and playing Ed Lawrence on CBS daytime soap opera Capitol. In Bewitched and Dr. Samson's Bewitted and Dr. Samson's Wonder Woman, he also appeared as a policeman. He appeared in the film Scream Blacula Scream (1973).
