Education
Franklin enrolled in New York University for one year (1981-1982) before moving out to become a professional actor. She continued her education three years later when she attended Moorpark College and then California State University, Northridge, where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education in 2017.
Personal life
In 1989, Franklin married Ray DeLaurentis, an animation journalist for television shows such as The Fairly OddParents. They live in Westlake Village, California. Their son Nick is a musician, while their daughter Olivia is a comedian and actress best known as one half of the absurdist comedy double act Syd & Olivia.
Career
Franklin appeared in television commercials for Coca-Cola, Trident, Jell-O, and Maxwell House coffee early in her acting career.
