Dexter Lamar Jackson (born July 28, 1977) is a retired American football safety in the National Football League (NFL).
In the fourth round of the 1999 NFL Draft, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He played college football at Florida State. In Super Bowl XXVII, Jackson was named MVP and received a Super Bowl ring with the Buccaneers.

College career
Jackson was a Human Science major and a letterman in football at Florida State University. As a freshman, he was named All-Atlantic Coast Conference quarterback, 7 interceptions, 16 passes defensed, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and blocked four field goals.
Professional career
In the fourth round (113th overall) of the 1999 NFL draft, Jackson was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He made his NFL debut against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
Jackson was the MVP of Super Bowl XXVIII, with two interceptions. He was the first safety to win the award since Jake Scott in 1973, and was the third defensive back overall (joining Scott and Larry Brown).
Jackson declared for free agency only after winning the Super Bowl. The Pittsburgh Steelers had a verbal deal to sign Jackson, but the Oakland Cardinals later pulled him out at the last minute and signed the Arizona Cardinals instead. The Steelers then went to "Plan B" and drafted Troy Polamalu.
In 2004, Jackson returned to the Buccaneers and spent with them until the 2005 season.
Before the 2006 season, Jackson signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as a free agent. He spent three seasons with the team before being released on March 6, 2009.
Jackson spent his time with the United Football League in Florida. Jackson was one of many former Buccaneers on the Tuskers' inaugural roster and spent time with the team until retiring.
