Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals has tied for second place on the NHL's all-time goal scoring list for Detroit Red Wings and Hartford Whalers legend Gordie Howe. In his team's game against the Winnipeg Jets, the Russian-born forward scored one goal. The goal was scored by a wrist shot that went through the legs of Jets goaltender David Rittich's legs, with aids going to Dylan Strome and Conor Sheary in the first period. With this goal, Ovechkin now sits only behind hockey's top scorer, Wayne Gretzky, for the most goals ever scored in the league.
