David Marciano (born January 7, 1960, in Newark, New Jersey) is an American actor best known for his appearances in the FX police drama The Shield's television series Due South and Detective Steve Billings.
Early life
Marciano grew up in north Newark. Newark was plagued by violent crime, and Marciano was a witness to the city in crisis. He has confessed to having a difficult youth. "I was loiing on street corners, consuming, gambling, playing cards, going to the racetrack, shooting pool, and all that sort of stuff." Marciano was involved in a big car accident after a night out partying. He needed to sort his life out and enrolled in Boston, Massachusetts, to study biomedical engineering. Marciano moved to economics and accounting for his second year before deciding to pursue acting after a rough start. Marciano studied Acting at Drama Studio London later in life.
Personal life
Marciano married Katayoun Amini (who played Vecchio's ex-wife Angie) in 1991, and the two children and one son have two daughters and one son together. They are divorced.
Career
Marciano moved to Berkeley, California, where he studied acting at the Drama Studio London, Berkeley, and gained a living as a bartender. Lorenzo Steelgrave's big break came two years later as a Wise guest star impersonating Lorenzo Steelgrave. Stanley, the diner owner, appeared in Pepsi's 'Diner' commercial, which was on television in the United Kingdom.
More small parts were followed, including Cop #1 in the film Lethal Weapon 2, before Jeffrey Lassick played bicycle messenger/poet in the legal drama Civil Wars from 1991 to 1993. In Due South in 1994, Ray Vecchio was cast as Detective Ray Vecchio. He appeared on two seasons before being written out, and Detective Stanley Kowalski (Callum Keith Rennie), who was largely replaced by Detective Stanley Kowalski (Callum Rennie), was given responsibility for filming commitments. He appeared on television in 1999, where Vecchio and Kowalski's ex-wife got together. He then appeared in Touched By An Angel's 1996 season 3 episode, "Into the Light," portraying a dying man in need of a heart transplant. In the 1997 mini-series of Mario Puzo's The Last Don, he appeared as Giorgio Clericuzio.
