David Kross Life

David Kross, alias David Kross, (born 4 July 1990), is a German actor.

He began his career at a young age in the 2002 film Hilfe, ich bin junge, and remained sporically, mainly focusing on his schoolwork.

In 2008, he received the leading role in Michael Berg's critically acclaimed film The Reader.

He was nominated for several awards before going on to win the Sierra Award at the Las Vegas Film Critics Society Awards for Youth in Film. Kross has worked in films including War Horse, Race, and Into the White, among others.

Early life

Kross was born in Henstedt-Ulzburg, 20 miles north of Hamburg. He grew up in Bargteheide, where he attended Eckhorst High School from 2007 to 2007. He has two brothers and one sister. Between 2004 and 2006, he played basketball for TSV Bargteheide, a professional basketball team.

Personal life

Kross began a three-year course at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). His aim was to develop his acting and English skills. However, he dropped out at the end of the year to concentrate on films. He has since lived in Berlin-Mitte. Kross hasn't stated a desire to move to Hollywood, preferring to stay in Germany and continue producing both German and English language films.

Career

His career began with a small appearance in the 2002 film Hilfe, ich bin bin bin binge Junge (English: Please, I'm a Boy). He joined Blaues Wölkchen, a tiny group from a children's theatre in Bargteheide, in December 2003. Die Herdmanns' debut in Hilfe was his first major theatrical performance.

Kross attracted Detlev Buck's attention through his son, Bernadette, in 2005; Buck recruited Kross to play the lead; a 15-year-old boy who moves with his mother from a wealthy Berlin neighborhood (Zehlendorf) to the Neukölln area, which is also known for the high number of Turkish immigrants and high crime level. Kross not only received accolades at Berlinale in 2006, but also earned Best Actor in Nuremberg at the 11th Filmfestival in Türkei/Germanland.

Kross appeared in the film Hands off Mississippi (Hände weg von Mississippi), as an apprentice baker. He started shooting a film directed by Marco Kreuzpaintner, Krabat, in the fall of the same year. Kross plays the title role in this adaptation of Otfried Preußler's children's book, alongside co-stars Daniel Brühl and Robert Stadlober. In September 2007, the film was first shown at cine festivals and in October 2008 in theaters.

The Reader began shooting in Berlin, Cologne, and Görlitz in September 2007. Kross plays Michael Berg, opposite Kate Winslet, Ralph Fiennes, and Bruno Ganz in Stephen Daldry's reimagining of Bernhard Schlink's best-selling book about a teenage boy and an older woman. To appear in the film, he had to learn to speak English. On December 3, 2008, the world premiere took place at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York. In the 2009 Berlinale, the film was shown but did not compete. Kross was praised at The Reader in May 2009, winning the Chopard trophy. Kross was nominated for a European Film Award as best actor.

In Same Same But Different (2009), Buck's next project was in Same Same But Different, but Different (2009), with Buck in charge. The script is based on Benjamin Prüfer's autobiographical article.

Kross was cast in Steven Spielberg's film War Horse in June 2010. Filming began in August 2010 in Dartmoor, Devon, United Kingdom, and the film was released in December 2011.
