David Wishart Hobbs (born 9 June 1939 in Royal Leamington Spa, England) is a British former racing driver.
Originally employed as a commentator for the Speed Channel, he currently works as a commentator for NBC and NBC Sports Network.

Hobbs's father, Howard Frederick Hobbs, was an Australian-born engineer and inventor who developed an early version of the automatic transmission, known as the Mecha-Matic. Colin Chapman had this transmission fitted to his Lotus Elite racecars. Hobbs lives in Vero Beach, Florida with his wife, Margaret, with whom he has two sons, Gregory and Guy. In 1986, Hobbs opened a car dealership, David Hobbs Honda, in Glendale, Wisconsin, which continues to exist today, and for which he personally voices advertisements. Driving career
Hobbs was born in Royal Leamington Spa, England, just months before World War II's outbreak began. His career as an international racing driver spanned 30 years, including in sports cars, touring cars, Indy cars, IMSA, Can-Am, and Formula One. He has competed in the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Daytona. He made twenty appearances in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing 8th at the first attempt in 1962 in eighth place and a best finish in 1969 and 1984).
Hobbs was supposed to make his F1 Grand Prix debut for Tim Parnell Racing at Clermont-Ferrand, but he was forced to stay in hospital for three weeks due to a serious road collision.
Hobbs won the L&M Continental Championship for Carl Hogan in 1971 out of St. Louis, Missouri, in a McLaren M10B-Chevrolet. At Laguna Seca, Seattle, Road America, Edmonton, and Lime Rock, he won five of the eight rounds that year. He'll be back for the 1983 Trans-Am Series Championship a year later. He began his NASCAR Winston Cup career in 1976, leading two laps at the 1976 Daytona 500 and driving a race in the 1979 International Race of Champions.
