David Gordon Green (born April 9, 1975) is an American filmmaker.
George Washington directed dramas such as Undertow (2004), All the Real Girls (2003), All the Real Girls (2003), and Snow Angels (2007), as well as the thriller Undertow (2004), all of which he wrote or co-wrote.
Green converted into comedy in 2008, directing Pineapple Express (2008), Your Highness, and The Sitter (both 2011).
With the films Prince Avalanche and Joe (both 2013), Our Brand Is Crisis (2015), and Stronger (2017), he returned to his dramatic roots.

Early life
Green, one of four children, was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and grew up in Richardson, Texas. Jean Ann (née Hunter), a Lamaze instructor, and his father, Hubert Gordon Greene, Jr., were both a medical school dean. Green attended Richardson High School, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he studied film production. He currently lives in Charleston, South Carolina.
Career
Green made the two short films Pleasant Grove and Physical Pinball at the North Carolina School of the Arts prior to his feature film debut in 2000, the critically acclaimed George Washington, which he both wrote and directed. In 2003 and 2004, he continued to do this with All the Real Girls, and in 2004.
He directed Snow Angels, his first film of another author's screenplay, based on the Stewart O'Nan novel. Sam Rockwell and Kate Beckinsale appeared in the film, which premiered at Sundance in January. Warner Independent Pictures introduced it. In 2008, Green directed the Seth Rogen buddy drama Pineapple Express as a director and the HBO series Eastbound & Down, for which he produced twelve episodes and served as a consultant. He is the creator of the animated film Good Vibes. In December 2011, he directed the comedy The Sitter, which was released in December 2011. Prince Avalanche was also directed and co-wrote by Green in 2013.
Green wrote and co-written Halloween (2018), directed by Jason Blum, executive produced by John Carpenter, and co-written by Green and Danny McBride. In October 2021, he also produced the sequels Halloween Kills, which were published in October 2021, and Halloween Ends, which were both released in October 2022.
HBO revealed in April 2020 that it would be producing a Hellraiser television series that would be a "step forward and expansion" of its mythology, with Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty directing several episodes; Vertigo Entertainment's Danny McBride, Jody Hill, Brandon James, and Roy Lee. Green will produce a new Exorcist film that will be a direct sequel to William Friedkin's 1971 film adaptation of the 1971 novel.
