Early life
Charvet was born and raised in Lyon, France, the son of Christiane Charvet Haddad and businessman Paul Guez, the founder of the Sasson brand of jeans in the 1980s. He was raised in a Jewish household.
In the early 1990s, he won a green card through the Morrison visa lottery. In 1999, he quit acting to pursue a career in music. Charvet lived in France, where he toured (among other parts of Europe) as a singer until recently.
Personal life
Charvet and Brooke Burke married on August 12, 2011; Brooke Burke revealed that she would take her husband's name and be identified as Brooke Burke-Charvet. They have two children together, daughter Heaven (born 2007) and son Shaya (born 2008), and they are raising their children in the Jewish faith. Brooke had two children from her first marriage to plastic surgeon Garth Fisher. After seven years of marriage, the couple declared divorce in April 2018. In March 2020, the couple's divorce was finalized.
Charvet eventually left the entertainment industry to spend more time with family and friends. When building his house in Malibu in 2006, he was dissatisfied with the contractor's work, so he sacked him and took over the project's leadership. Charvet's The Jones Builders Group, a Los Angeles-based residential contracting firm, runs as a 2022 resident.
Acting career
Charvet made his first appearance on American television show Baywatch in 1992 as Matt Brody. He appeared on Baywatch for three seasons until 1995. Craig Field appeared on Melrose Place from 1996 to 1998. He appeared in Seduced and Betrayed, Derby, Angel Flight Down, and Meet Prince Charming from 1995 to 1999. In 1999, he left acting to concentrate on his musical career.
Charvet returned to acting in a Roger Christian film called Prisoners of the Sun, which was only completed and released in 2013. He appeared in the film Green Flash, also known as Beach Kings. In 2009, he appeared in ABC's summer reality show The Superstars and came in third, with his partner Lisa Leslie. He appeared on La Ferme Célébrités, the French version of The Farm, in 2010. On TF1, the program was broadcast.
Music career
Charvet decided to return to France with a 5-album deal with Universal Music Group France after a string of promising runs at Baywatch and Melrose Place in the 1990s. He released three pop rock studio albums with self-named David Charvet in 1997, Leap of Faith in 2002, and Se laisser personne chose in 2004. His books were targeted at a larger audience of listeners.
His debut single "Should I Leave," a bilingual French and English hit, debuted in France and Sweden, and was also charted in Belgium and Sweden. His bilingual hit "Jusqu'au bout"/"Leap of Faith" debuted in France at #6, followed by the bilingual "Apprendre à aimer"/"Teach Me How to Love" which made it to the French Top 20 and was a hit in Belgium, Switzerland, and the Netherlands. Charvet has released over 2.5 million albums.
