Since its inception, GARAGE magazine has collaborated with some of the world's most influential designers and initiated international artistic dialogues. Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, Nick Knight, Marc Jacobs, Richard Prince, John Baldessari, Inez & Vinoodh, and Patrick Demarchelier are among the magazine's contributors. The magazine took its name and spirit from the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art. She is also a founder of the Culture Shed in New York.
On Buro 24/7, an online fashion publication, a photograph of Zhukova sitting on a chair created as a mannequin of a black woman was published in 2014. The photograph had been widely mocked for being racial. The chair was cropped from the photo, and Zhukova apologised, describing the chair as art and as "commentary on gender and racial politics" on Buro 24/7. "I completely condemn bigotry and would like to apologize to those who were injured by my participation in this shooting," Zhukova said.
