Early life

Danna Paola was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. She is the daughter of Patricia Munguía and Juan José Rivera Arellano, the former singer of Grupo Ciclón and Los Caminantes. Her parents divorced during her childhood. She has an older sister, Vania Rivera Munguía.

Acting career

Danna Paola's acting career began in 1999 when she and her sister were invited to Televisa's casting call in Mexico City for Plaza Sésamo, the Mexican equivalent of Sesame Street. Both were later cast on the show and appeared in many episodes.

She was chosen to lead Amy, la nia de la mochila azul's hit children's series in 2004. Océano, her second studio album, was released shortly. She was the female lead of Pablo y Andrea, the television version of Tom Sawyer's classic book The Adventures of a Year A year later. She appeared in several television series created by Televisa over the past several years.

In Atrévete a Soar, the Mexican version of the popular Argentine children's telenovela Patito Feo, she appeared as "Patito" in 2009. In late 2009, Danna Paola completed two seasons of the show and production was concluded. Atrévete a Soar was a character in Paola's transition from children's to teen telenovelas. In order to promote the performance, Paola and the cast of the telenovela performed two soundtracks and toured around Mexico. Both Mexico and Latin America were extremely profitable as a result of the telenovela's music and its soundtrack. In Mexico, the soundtrack was rated double platinum.

She appeared in Rapunzel's Latin American Spanish-language dubbing of Disney's Tangled in late 2010 and was instrumental in the film's Spanish-language soundtrack.

Danna Paola auditioned for the first Spanish-language performance of the Broadway musical Wicked in Mexico City in May 2013. She appeared on both Glinda and Elphaba, appearing "Popular" and "Defying Gravity." The final cast for the Mexican film was revealed later this month, with Paola playing Elphaba. Teatro Telcel, a Mexican city, was opened on October 17th, 2013 and closed on January 18th, 2015. Critics in Mexico, as well as the play's original composer, Stephen Schwartz, lauded her performance. The play was also a commercial success in Mexico City, despite being well-received by critics. Wicked's first ten weeks saw more than 100,000 tickets and 100 performances; it set a box office record, making it one of Mexico's most popular theatre performances ever. Danna Paola was the first person to perform Elphaba in a professional theatre performance at the age of 18.

Danna Paola appeared in Saving Sara Cruz, a modern-day adaptation of the 1992 film The Bodyguard, in January 2014. The film never started, and it was later shelved.

Danna first launched as a fashion designer for the Mexican clothing brand Sexy Jeans in March 2014. Sexy Jeans' "Danna Paola" line was extremely profitable, with many Mexican products selling out all over the country.

Danna appeared on "Take A Chance On Me" in August 2014, the ABS tribute album Dancing Queens. "Take A Chance On Me" was released as a single on September 2nd, 2014, and debuted on iTunes México at number one.

She performed "No hay bien" the Spanish-language version of "No Good Deed" at the Auditorio Nacional for the Lunas del Auditorio award show on October 29, 2014. Wicked received an award in the "Broadway Show" category that night.

Danna Paola appeared in over 300 Wicked performances from 2013 to early 2015. Following the conclusion of Wicked, actress Alex Gou was invited by actor Alex Gou to appear in the cast of the musical Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar, where she appeared in the lead role of Maria and went on tour throughout Mexico.

With Mexican singer Lalo Brito, she performed the duet "Mentras Me Enamoras" in August 2015. In September 2015, a music video was also shot, and it premiered on Brito's YouTube channel. Paola went to Miami in mid-2015 to film the telenovela drama titled "Quién es quién?" This was her first television appearance outside of Televisa. On January 26, 2018, the film was released in Mexican cinemas. She was announced as a cast member in the telenovela drama La Doa, produced by Telemundo in mid-April 2016. In November 2016, the telenovela was shot in Mexico and premiered in November 2016. On May 1, 2017, Telemundo in the United States aired the final.

Paola was featured in the Telemundo bio-series José José José, based on the life of Mexican singer José José José José José José. Lucero, the Mexican singer-songwriter, appeared in 4 episodes of the film. On Telemundo on January 15, 2018, the miniseries premiered. Paola was supposed to begin filming a part of the Mexican actress Silva Pinal's life in late January. She later dropped out before filming started and revealed that she was cast in Netflix's original Spanish teen drama series Élite. Paola was forced to move to Madrid for six months, beginning in January 2018. Following a lengthy audition process in 2017, she was accepted into the program. Paola went on to appear in 3 seasons of the film in 4K and premiered on Netflix globally in October 2018. Paola was seen as a judge on the singing-commotion series La Academia for TV Azteca in 2019. In 2021, she was cast as a mentor in the Spanish singing competition series Top Star.

Music career

She began recording her fourth solo studio album in 2011, as well as her debut album as a "grown-up" solo recording artist. Songs for telenovelas, children's music, and film soundtracks were among her previous discographies. She confessed that she wanted her latest album to represent her progress as an artist and not her image as a child actress. As the album's lead single, "Ruleta," written by Mexican pop singer Paty Cant, was announced. On March 14, 2012, Paola's official VEVO channel premiered a new official music video. She performed the single "Dónde estabas t" in Lo más sencillo es complicarlo todo's 2018 film premiere. In November 2017, the movie "Ghost" was released. On August 29, 2019, her new single, "Oye Pablo," was released.
