Danilo Gallinari (Italian pronunciation: [dana ri]; born 8 August 1988) is an Italian professional basketball player for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Gallinari was drafted sixth overall in the 2008 NBA draft by the New York Knicks after spending his first four years as a professional in his hometown Italy. He was with the Knicks for two and a half seasons before being traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2011. He has also played for the Los Angeles Clippers, the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Atlanta Hawks.

Professional career
Gallinari began playing for Casalpusterlengo in 2004, a team in Serie B1 (third level in Italy).
Gallinari was acquired by Armani Jeans Milano in 2005, allowing him to join Edimes Pavia, a team competing in the Italian league second division championship, so he could gain more experience with extended playing minutes. Despite the fact that he missed only half of the season due to a back injury, he was still named the best Italian player of the Italian league second division championship in 2006, with 14.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 0.8 assists in 17 games.
Gallinari was recalled by Olimpia Milano in 2006 and later in the ULEB Cup. Gallinari was voted the league's best player under the age of 22, averaging 10.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.7 steals, and 1.0 assists per game in 8 playoff games. Gallinari returned to action against the Minnesota Timberwolves on December 6th after missing a month due to a glute injury. Gallinari served on the Italian national team under the age of 16 and 18.
