Danielle Macdonald Life

Danielle Louise Macdonald (born 19 May 1991) is an Australian actress best known for her lead roles in Patti Cake$ (2017) and Willowdean Dickson' (2018), as Patricia "Patti" Dombrowski.

She is also known for her appearances in the post-apocalyptic thriller film Bird Box as Olympia and the film Skin.

Early life

Macdonald, who is of Italian and Scottish origins, was born in Sydney in 1991. She studied at the Australian Institute of Performing Arts in Namburn, New South Wales.

When she was in grade 8, she transitioned to improv and screen classes. Macdonald took some acting lessons in Los Angeles and was encouraged to move to the United States to investigate things further. Danielle, who decided that acting would be her passion, moved to Hollywood at the age of 18.

Personal life

Danielle's mother has Italian roots, which is related to her mother's side.

When her cousin's house burned down in Australia, Macdonald was personally affected by the devastating summer bushfires in 2019-20. Macdonald and her family died in a car ride that should have taken three hours but took 13 hours through the fire ravaged area while staying with relatives in Bateman's Bay, NSW, over Christmas.

In Los Angeles, Macdonald lives with roommates and a menagerie of rescue dogs as of September 2020. Macdonald lived as a pescatarian for five years, but she converted to veganism at the start of 2020.

Macdonald, 18, moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She had been preparing for the role of Becca Huffstatter in ABC's Huge, but her visa was not released on time and she was unable to serve. The East was her first feature film, which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

Macdonald is best known for her role as Alice Manning in the 2014 crime film Every Secret Thing, alongside Dakota Fanning, Diane Lane, and Elizabeth Banks. Katherine Pushkar of New York Daily News wrote, "The film belongs to Danielle Macdonald, who is just cruel, jealous Alice." Macdonald appeared in the film Trust Me also.

She appeared in the season finale of American Horror Story: Roanoke as Bristol Windows in 2016. Macdonald appeared in Patti Cake$ as the titular aspiring rapper in New Jersey for the following year. Macdonald is a writer who writes about Patti Cake$. She was agentless for the first six years of her career, but after the success of Patti Cake$, she signed with her first Hollywood agent.

Macdonald appeared in Netflix's comedy series Easy in December 2017, portraying a teenager who retaliates against her wealthy parents as they coerce her to go to church every week.

Macdonald appeared in two Netflix films, opposite Jennifer Aniston in the adaptation of young adult novel Dumplin'; and Bird Box as Olympia, a pregnant woman who struggles to escape the arrival of supernatural beings that make people want to kill themselves once they see it. In the Academy Award-winning short drama film Skin, she also played Christa.

In 2019, Macdonald appeared as Lillian Roxon in I Am Woman, the singer's biopic of singer Helen Reddy, which showcased her Australian accent. "I love the fact that these are two Australian women who decided to go to the States by themselves in a time where that didn't happen," she said, "this is what I want to do, this is what I want to do." I went from Australia when I was 18 to begin and pursue a wild career, so I could comprehend and relate. "I have no intention of reminiscing about it."

Macdonald appeared in French Exit in 2021. Macdonald appeared in the Ben Lewin-directed film Falling for Figaro last year. Millie is a woman who leaves her career to fulfill her aspirations of becoming an opera singer. Meghan Geoffrey-Bishop, a feared teacher, takes her to Scotland, where she is taught by a fearful tutor (Joanna Lumley).

In 2022, Macdonald appeared in the film The Tourist alongside Jamie Dornan and Alex Dimitriades. Helen Chambers, a police officer from a rural town who is sent to look into a man who suffered amnesia after a car accident, is played by Macdonald.
