Danielle Louise Macdonald (born 19 May 1991) is an Australian actress best known for her lead roles in Patti Cake$ (2017) and Willowdean Dickson' (2018), as Patricia "Patti" Dombrowski.

Early life
Macdonald, who is of Italian and Scottish origins, was born in Sydney in 1991. She studied at the Australian Institute of Performing Arts in Namburn, New South Wales.
When she was in grade 8, she transitioned to improv and screen classes. Macdonald took some acting lessons in Los Angeles and was encouraged to move to the United States to investigate things further. Danielle, who decided that acting would be her passion, moved to Hollywood at the age of 18.
