Dalton Louis Rapattoni (born February 6, 1996) is an American singer from Dallas, Texas.

He auditioned for the fifteenth season of American Idol in 2015.

He took third place on April 6, 2016, behind La'Porsha Renae and Trent Harmon.

Early life

Rapattoni was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on February 6, 1996, to Kiva Jackson Rapattoni and Fran Rapattoni. The family moved to Sunnyvale, Texas, where he was born, when he was two years old. At the age of 9, he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He was suspended from school due to the subsequent absences after medications used to treat his illness caused seizures.

After his grandmother gave him lessons, he learned to play guitar at the age of 11. He began attending the School of Rock in Dallas and later in Frisco, Texas, when he was 12 years old. He formed Fly Away Hero, a local band with friends that was a result of the School of Rock program.

He began participating in a national talent hunt for boy band members by filming an audition video in a local Dallas mall at age 14. He was chosen one of the five original members of the boy band IM5 and relocated to Los Angeles as a result. IM5 debuted in 2011 after finishing preparations. Dalton revealed in March 2014 that he had left IM5.

Since 2015, he has been teaching at the School of Rock in Dallas and Rockwall.

Music career

He formed Fly Away Hero, a local band with friends, as part of his early education at the School of Rock. From 2010 to 2012, the pair released two EPs and appeared at various venues around Texas.

Rapattoni was chosen in 2011 as part of a national talent search for the boy band IM5, which was created by Perez Hilton, Jamie King, and Simon Fuller. He appeared and recorded with the band from March 2014 to March 2014. In May 2014, he released "Stop," a solo album.

Following his release, he revived his old band Fly Away Hero with new members and launched a new EP entitled "Lost and Found" on January 6, 2015. The EP is ranked 17 on the Billboard Heatseekers at number 17.

In August 2015, Rapattoni registered for the final season of American Idol, placing third. After his appearance on American Idol, the singer's "Strike a Match" was released, and it debuted on Rock Digital Songs, number 35 on Alternative Digital Songs, and #46 on Hot Rock Songs, with 6,000 copies sold.

Rapattoni and American Idol debuted in Austin, Texas, where he and Matt Noveskey of Orb Recording Studios began recording his album.

He announced the School of Rock Gives Back Tour, where he appeared with School of Rock house bands from around the country and Canada, as well as a free meet and greet to thank those who supported him in the Idol competition on May 6, 2016. He revealed another tour, "The Inspired Attempt Tour," after the School of Rock Gives Back Tour concluded. The Inspired Attempt began in Boston and ended in Arizona, and spread to around the country.

Rapattoni's first single "Turn to Stone" debuted on October 14, his first single "Turn to Stone" was released. He unveiled a digital single of John Lennon's "Happy Christmas" on December 9, 2016. With The Acoustic Attempt Tour, he continued to tour in March and April 2017. Rapattoni and singer Lauren Carnahan announced a summer tour on Cliff and artist Lauren Carnahan on April 21, 2017. Nobodys Home, his debut solo studio album, was released on September 22, 2017. Rapattoni is releasing the album through PledgeMusic, and when fans pre-order the album, they will immediately get the singles "Signs" and "Heaven" off the album.
