Early years

Olavarra, a born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, was an articulate and eloquent child. Since she was a child, her abilities helped her land into the world of beauty pageants, television hosting, and modeling. She won her first beauty pageant, "Miss Reina Infantil," and became the host of Contra el Reloj con Pacheco, the Puerto Rican children's game show Contra el Reloj con Pacheco.

Cynthia Olavarria attended Colegio La Piedad, a private school in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico, where she was an honor student and a member of numerous school associations, including the National Honor Society and the Student Council. She enrolled in University of Puerto Rico's Ro Piedras Campus, where she was able to combine her studies with her modeling work after high school. She earned her bachelor's degree in Mass Communications in 2004 with a specialization in journalism and Public Relations.

She started out as a model by competing in Elite Model Look Competition Puerto Rico, where she came third place. This served as the start of a long modeling career in Indonesia, Dominican Republic, Miami, New York, and Puerto Rico, where she has enjoyed success, with over 20 magazine covers and journals in Indonesia, Dominican Republic, Miami, New York, and Puerto Rico.

Many awards have been given to her throughout her career, including two awards for "Best Female Model" and a distinction as a Puerto Rican "Top Model." In 2007, she received the "International Model Ambassador Award" at the Chicago Latino Fashion Week, and later this year as "Outstanding Model of the Year" in the Latin Pride National Awards, and in another award as "Outstanding Model of the Year" in the Latin Pride National Awards.

Olavarria's pageant history began at age 11 when she won her first beauty pageant, "Miss Reina Infantil." When she turned 16, she competed in Elite Model Look Puerto Rico.

After graduating from college, Olavarra decided to pursue a master's degree in International Relations as well as a career with Elite Model Management when she decided to temporarily reorient her course in order to compete in the Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2005 pageant, where she won the crown of Salinas in 2010.

In May 2005, she represented Puerto Rico in the Miss Universe 2005 pageant in Bangkok, Thailand, and she became the first and only Puerto Rican in Miss Universe history to place 1st Runner-Up until 2020, when Madison Anderson achieved this feat. Natalie Glebova of Canada was the overall champion. Olavarra officially attended in place when Glebova was unable to attend the Miss Indonesia 2007 pageant on behalf of the Miss Universe Organisation due to Canada's travel ban on Indonesia.

She made several appearances on television shows including Don Francisco Presenta, El Gordo y La Flaca, Despierta America, Cotorta America, Cotorta America, Cotorna, Primer Impacto, Obmios Juventud, and Premios Lo Nuestro during her time on Don Francisco Presenta, El Gordo y La Flaca, Cotorta America, Premios Juvento

In the child-oriented play "La Princesa de los Ojos Tristes," she made her theater debut by playing a princess. Cynthia received a supporting actress award "Premios Tu Mundo" in August 2013 for her role as the vivacious Diana Mercader in the telenovela-thriller "El Rostro De La Venganza."

As much as Cynthia loved receiving a "Tu Mundo" for portraying angelic/good natured roles, she was concerned that the award would continue to be distributed in such settings in perpetuities. However, Telemundo Studios had cast Cynthia in a superb villainess role in "Reyes," a remake of the highly popular Colombian telenovela "Pasion De Gavilanes," published early in November 2014. This time, she'll be interpreting the diabolical, Isadora Valverde, a notorious and obsessive woman who runs a drug cartel and who obsessively participates in a love triangle between actor Fabian Rios and Aaron Diaz.
