Cristin Milioti (born August 16, 1985) is an American actress and singer.

She is best known for her role on the sitcom How I Met Your Mother from 2013 to 2014, as well as her appearances in Broadway theatre productions including That Face, Stunning, and Tony Award-winning musical Once, for which she received a Grammy Award and was nominated for a Tony Award.

Teresa Petrillo Belfort appeared in the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street and Betsy Solverson in the second season of Fargo (2015).

Early life

Milioti was born in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, on August 16, 1985. She is of Italian descent and her family is referred to as "Olive Garden Italian" in honor of her Italian origins. She discovered her love of acting at Long Lake Camp for the Arts in Long Lake, New York, in middle school. She graduated from Cherry Hill High School East in 2003, where she began participating in school plays. She took acting lessons at New York University but dropped out during her sophomore year. Milioti confessed to being "very sad here" and was kicked out as a result.

Milioti's first acting appearances were in national television commercial campaign ads, including one for the Ford Edge. In addition, she appeared in television series including The Sopranos and films including Greetings from the Shore. Milioti has also performed on stage. In 2007, she appeared on Broadway as Alice Ashbrook in Helen Edmundson's award-winning adaptation of Jamila Gavin's book Coram Boy. She appeared in That Face in 2010 and was nominated for the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lead Actress for her role in Stunning. She received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical in 2012 for her role in Once, a play in which she had appeared from 2011 to 2013. The 2013 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album Collaboration went to her Once appearance, with fellow principal soloist Steve Kazee. She also read aloud a short story about "Adventure," a 2011 This American Life episode. She appeared on several songs of Glen Hansard's debut album Rhythm and Repose in 2012.

Milioti appeared in the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother as the titular Mother for the first time in the season eight finale titled "Something New" in 2013, and was promoted to a series regular for the show's ninth and final season. In the 2013 Martin Scorsese film The Wolf of Wall Street, Milioti portrayed Jordan Belfort's first wife, Teresa Petrillo. In February 2014, she was cast as Zelda, the female lead on NBC's comedy A to Z, which premiered in October and lasted for one season of 13 episodes. Betsy Solverson, the cancer-stricken wife of state trooper Lou Solverson and mother of future deputy Molly Solverson, appeared on FX's Fargo in 2015. Milioti appeared in the fourth season of the sci-fi anthology show "USS Callister" as Nanette Cole, a newly employed game programmer whose online recreation is embedded in a virtual simulation game.

Milioti appeared in the critically acclaimed sci-fi/comedy Palm Springs film festival in January and July in 2020, as the Sundance Film Festival premiered in January and on Hulu in July. She appeared in the HBO Max dark comedy series Made for Love as the entrapped wife of a tech billionaire from whom she ran away.

We now have our first glance at Colin Farrell's long-awaited "The Batman" spinoff series. Max (formerly known as HBO Max) officially launched its new streaming services on April 12th after dropping the first suspenseful teaser of "The Penguin," Farrell's next chapter of "The Batman" saga, which sees Farrell's titular gangster character return to Gotham City to wreak havoc. The clip also announced that Matt Reeves-executive produced show is now in production in New York City and is scheduled to debut on our television screens in 2024. Robert Pattinson played "The Batman," which Reeves directed, premiered in March 2022 with Walter Pattinson as the titular Caped Crusader and Zo Kravitz as Catwoman. It was a box-office smash, grossing over $770 million. Max announced that its spinoff sequence was ongoing shortly after the film was announced. According to reports, "The Penguin" takes place soon after "The Batman" takes place, and the eight-episode limited series acts as a sequel.
