Cristian Gérard Alfaro Gonzáles (born 30 August 1976) is a professional footballer from Uruguay who currently works as a striker for PSIM Yogyakarta.

He has been the top scorer in Liga Indonesia and has scored 249 goals.

In his youth, he played with lvaro Recoba in the Uruguay U20.

He officially holds an Indonesian passport as of November 3, 2010 and has become the first naturalized player to be called up to the Indonesian national football team.

Personal life

Gonzáles was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. Eva Nurida Siregar, a retired engineer from 1985, married him in 1995 and has four children. He converted to Islam on October 9, 2003, and Mustafa Habibi became his Islamic name. In 2010, he obtained a passport in Indonesia. Gonzáles has appeared in Indonesian soap operas and television commercials.

Club career

In 1995, he joined Sud América, the Uruguayan team. He played just once during the 28 months, scoring no goals. After being loaned to Huracán Corrientes, he returned to Sud America in the starting lineup. He played 12 times and scored one goal.

He was loaned to Huracán Corrientes, where he played three times without scoring a single goal.

On the expiration of his term, he transferred to Deportivo Maldonado on a free transfer in 2000. He played 22 times and scored one goal.

He began playing in Indonesia in 2003 and joined PSM Makassar, becoming the first player to play in Indonesia. He scored 27 goals in the previous season. In that season, PSM claimed the Liga Indonesian Cup. He was fined Rp20 million for assaulting one of Persita Tangerang's officials, and was suspended.

He joined and led Persik Kediri to be the Liga Indonesia champions in 2006. He was banned by the PSI in 2008 for nonsportsmanlike conduct. Persik Kediri's financial crisis prompted Persik's chief to rationalize salaries. Gonzáles was one of the few players in the game who protested the decision and moved to a different team.

Persib Bandung's chief revealed on January 30, 2009, that Gonzáles had been recruited with remission from PSI chairman Nurdin Halid. Gonzáles was taken as a loan from Persik Kediri and was paid 60 million rupiahs per month by Persib Bandung.

He made his debut in the Super League for Persib against Persipura Jayapura in a 1–1 draw thanks to a goal he scored. In 2008, he played 16 times in the League and scored 14 goals, making Gonzáles a top scorer in the Super League.

Persib Bandung took him straight from Persik Kediri after his Persik Kediri service ended, he was immediately hired by Persib Bandung. He scored a goal for Persib in the East Java Government Cup in the 2009-10 season. He scored 51 goals in the 2009–2010 season.

Gonzáles signed a year deal with Persisam Putra Samarinda in September 2011. In a match against PSAP Sigli, he made his league debut on December 4, 2011. Gonzáles scored his first goal for Persisam Putra Samarinda in the 32nd minute at the Harapan Bangsa Stadium in Banda Aceh on December 4, 2011.

Persisam Samarinda's contract came to an end. He joined Arema Cronus and wore number 10 on his first day. Gonzáles made his league debut in a match against Persidafon Dafonsoro on January 9, 2013. In the 9th minute at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, Gonzáles scored his first goal for Arema.

In the 2018 season, he was signed for Madura United to compete in Liga 1. Gonzáles made his league debut on April 2nd, 2018 in a match against PS TIRA at Bantul's Sultan Agung Stadium.

Gonzales has signed a one-year deal with Indonesian Liga 2 club PSS Sleman. PSS defeated Semen Padang 2–0 at the Pakansari Stadium, Cibinong, on December 4th, 2018. For PSS Sleman, he made 19 league appearances and scored 15 goals.

In the 2019 season, he was signed for PSIM Yogyakarta to play in Liga 2 for the first time. For PSIM Yogyakarta, he made 17 league appearances and scored nine goals.

Gonzáles signed a 2021-2021 deal with Indonesian Liga 2 club RANS Cilegon. On October 5th, he made his league debut against Persekat Tegal. Gonzáles scored his first goal for RANS Cilegon against Badak Lampung in the 18th minute at the Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium in Jakarta.

International career

Despite Gonzales' start as an Uruguayan, he became an Indonesian national on October 3rd, 2010 after a six-year absence, including not going home to his father's funeral. He is Indonesia's first naturalized football player and the first to join the Indonesian national football team. In a friendly game against Timor-Leste in which he scored twice in a 6–0 victory, his debut with the national team came on November 21, 2010.
