Mike Brown is preparing for life after rugby by going back to school and wants to move into football

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 17, 2022
Exclusive INTERVIEW BY NIK SIMON: The Browns have relocated to London to begin a new chapter after a second child was due in January. Brown, who has been commuting to Manchester for university lectures, also doesn't know what the chapter looks like. For the first time since graduating from college in 2005, he does not have a job. Brown hasn't yet talked about the possibility of rugby retirement until now. However, as the show goes on without him, it is time to worry about the future. 'I'm in a strange gray area,' says the author. I'm still playable, and I'd love to play if everything goes well, but there are no gigs out there. I'm trying to get back to life after rugby, and I'm sure we'll see what comes first. I'm not going to sit here waiting for one last paycheck check. I'll take it if something else comes up. Any athlete has to go through it at some point, and for me, it could be now. It's not the way I expected it to be finished, but I've loved it and it's life.'

But, though England has a right to focus on the Test in front of them and let the future take care of itself, now is the time to move away from short-term gains and think about their international approach.
