Life and career

Dunn, who was born in Normal, Illinois, and his mother, Linda, moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, when he was a child. He was active in theatre and joined an improv comedy group when he was attending St. Paul Central High School. Dunn came from New York in 1998, and while there, he appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. In 2004, he relocated to Los Angeles.

Dunn, a writer and performer on madTV, from 2005 to 2009. He has appeared in Parks and Recreation, Nick Swardson's Pretend Time, Game Shop, Burning Love, a small part of CollegeHumor's "If Google Was a Guy" and co-starred in NBC's Superstore. Dunn appeared on RT-ES, a comedy variety show produced by Rooster Teeth Productions, and co-starred in their sci-fi action comedy Lazer Team in 2016.

He is a member of the improvisational comedy troupe Boom Chicago and has appeared and lectured at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre since 1999.

For his work on Key & Peele, Dunn has been nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series.
