Colby O'Donis Career

Career

When O'Donis was eight years old, his parents moved to Orlando, Florida, and a year later, he began working with Full Force, the same company that had worked with Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, and Britney Spears. O'Donis' rise to fame began at age ten, when he became the youngest recording artist to sign to Motown in order to produce a song for a major motion picture soundtrack. On the Stuart Little soundtrack, the song, titled "Mouse in the House," was included. He began taking guitar lessons with Johan Oiested, a guitarist in Carlos Santana's rhythm section, right away. He was making regular appearances as an actor on the television show Grandpa's Garage at the age of 11. By the time he had turned 14 years old, O'Donis was hosting local Florida shows for major recording artists, including Backstreet Boys, Brian McKnight, 98 Degrees, Britney Spears, and Ne-Yo. O'Donis' parents decided to move Los Angeles, California, to try for a recording contract a year after his fifteenth birthday. O'Donis' move led him to Genuine Music Group, where he began collaborating on producing an LP album containing songs from his catalog and songs co-written by Damon Sharpe, Gregg Pagani, and Brion James.

In 2006, O'Donis near-signed a landmark agreement with Babyface. However, O'Donis' administration called a meeting between O'Donis and Akon before the contract was signed, but before it was finalized, O'Donis' leadership held a meeting between O'Donis and Akon. They arrived in the studio where O'Donis performed Akon's first demo of fourteen songs, and Akon was in love and "really connected with it." A few weeks later, they arranged a session and started working on music, where O'Donis said they had chemistry from the start. Akon told O'Donis that he had created Konvict Muzik and asked if he wanted to be a part of it. O'Donis expressed disappointment and waited for the label to "get going and reach the stature that they need to launch new artists" before being officially signed.

O'Donis has revealed that he had already released six independent record albums before signing with Interscope Records and Akon.

"What You Got" O'Donis' first single, starring Akon, was released on February 26, 2008, and his second single, "Don't Turn Back," was released on June 24, 2008. Both songs were released on iTunes and were included on Lady Gaga's debut album, "Just Dance," winning him a nomination for Best Dance Recording at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards. This has been his most profitable single to date.

At the Teen Choice Awards for "Just Dance" in 2009, O'Donis and Gaga received Best Dance Recording at the Teen Choice Awards for "Just Dance." "Hey Yo!" he sang with Brooke Hogan. In comparison to his single "I Want to Touch You" being broadcast to radio later this year, it is expected that later this year. On July 27, 2009, the second album's music video premiered. He appeared in the Akon song "Beautiful" earlier this year.

In 2010, O'Donis appeared in "What You Waiting For," a Malaysian artist Mizz Nina song that has received a lot of airplay in Malaysia and other Southeast Asian nations. "Texting Flirtation" is his second single from the singer.

O'Donis signed with Z-Entertainment Records and released the digital single "Like Me" the following year. On YouTube, the music video premiered on February 9, 2012.

O'Donis' second studio album, Start Over, debuted in 2013, following what he described as "a 4-year absence." To advertise the album, he performed "Lean," "This Night Around," "Come Back," "State of Mind," and "Kiss Those Lips." Despite being set for a launch date in early 2014, the album was never released.

In March 2020, he took to Instagram to announce that he would be working on new music in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. On March 14, his single "Hold On" was released.
