Clint Mansell Career

Career

Mansell was born in Coventry and then in Warwickshire. Mansell, a founder of Pop Will Eat Itself, appeared as a lead vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, or co-writer of several of the band's songs for a decade from their inception in 1986. The band pioneers of sampling and experimental music in the UK alternative rock scene, incorporating influences from hip hop, industrial music, house, and other dance styles into their music. PWEI were registered in the United States in 1994 to Nothing Records, the company owned by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. Mansell and Reznor, a long-time PWEI supporter, became friends when Mansell moved to New York, and Mansell performed backing vocals on Nine Inch Nails' 1999 album The Fragile.

When director Darren Aronofsky asked Mansell to film his debut film, Pi, in 1996, he started composing film soundtracks. He also wrote the score for Aronofsky's upcoming film, Requiem for a Dream, which became a cult hit. The film's main composition, "Lux Aeterna," was very popular, appearing in ads, film trailers, and YouTube videos branded Epic Music. With the sole exception of mother, Mansell has composed the music to every subsequent Aronofsky film.

The Lord of the Rings' trailer: The Two Towers used an orchestral and choral arrangement of "Lux Aeterna," which was dubbed "Requiem for a Tower." Simone Benyacar, Dan Nielsen, and Veigar Margeirsson orchestrated this orchestration.

In Zathura, "Lux Aeterna" and "Requiem for a Tower" styles have been used, including "The Da Vinci Code, Sunshine, Babylon A.D., Lost, Top Gear, Soccer Saturday, and America's Got Talent.

On the trailer for The Iron Lady and the computer game Aliens: Colonial Marines, Mansell's theme from the film Moon appears.

Mansell signed a publishing agreement with Decca Publishing, a Decca Music division. For the first time, the pair brought his more than 650 original pieces, as well as his Pop Will Eat Itself pieces, under a single umbrella.

Apart from writing the lyrics for Coventry City of Culture's manifesto film, which was released in July 2020, there was also work on the production of Coventry's manifesto film.
