Dermatologists detect the world's smallest EVER skin cancer

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 2, 2023
Christy Staats (left) was told that a red spot just underneath her eye was harmless, she assumed that meant the end of her ordeal. And yet, only seconds later, her dermatologist was spooked by another blemish on her same cheek. The tiny spot (right), which measured just 0.65mm and was almost unreadable to the naked eye, was discovered to be a melanoma - the deadliest form of skin cancer. Ms Staats' invasive tumor has now been diagnosed as the smallest ever skin cancer diagnosis and was given a Guinness World Record, according to doctors who treated her. The finding, according to Dr. Alexander Witkowski (inset), assistant professor of dermatology at Oregon Health & Science University, who discovered the cancer, indicated that the melanoma could be treated before it spreads.
