One of the advantages of the South Coast, apart from its balmy climate and good transport links, is the scenic backdrop it offers for murder. Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, on his Brighton patch, doesn't have to contend with the windswept moors or dingy tenements that are the stomping grounds of colleagues such as Vera or Rebus. CHRISTOPHER STEVENS: This Family Pile (ITV), like Google Glass, is one of those ingenious ideas that are shattered by its appearance. The cast is excellent, the characters are authentic and likeable, but the show simply doesn't work as a sitcom. It's similar to inserting a search engine in a pair of bifocals.
