Christine Josephine Cavanaugh (née Sandberg, 1963 – December 22, 2014) was an American actress with a distinctive speaking style and was the face of a large number of cartoon characters.

Bunnie Rabbot from ABC's Saturday-morning cartoon, Babe from the 1995 film of the same name, Gosalyn Mallard in Darkwing Duck, and she appeared in Chuckie Finster's Rugrats, Oblina in Aahh. In Cartoon Network's Laboratory's Dexter's Laboratory, Real Monsters and the titular character.

She resigned from acting in 2001 due to health issues.

Christine Josephine Sandberg was born in Layton, Utah, on August 16, 1963, to Waldo Eugene Sandberg and Rheta Sandberg (née Mason). Cavanaugh was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Career

Cavanaugh performed Gosalyn Mallard, the title character's adopted daughter on Disney's Darkwing Duck, as well as Chuckie Finster on the Nickelodeon cartoon Rugrats, and later in 1994, Oblina on Aahh!! These are the real monsters.

Cavanaugh's voice could also be heard on The Critic as the voice of Marty, Jay Sherman's son. The animated series Sonic the Hedgehog, The Wild Thornberrys, and Recess, as well as Birdie in Ronald McDonald's The Wacky Adventures. Cavanaugh appeared on the Disney Channel in the early 1990s as an announcer for "coming up next" bumpers.

In 1995, Cavanaugh gave her voice to Babe the Gallant Pig, a live action film starring Babe. She had been encouraged to reprise her role in Babe: Pig in the City but decided against it when labor talks fell through, so Ruth Daily, the Rugrats co-star, took the lead. Cavanaugh began on Dexter's Laboratory in 1995, which was a short under Cartoon Network's What a Cartoon! The first short film to be adapted into its own cartoon network was shown on television, and later became the first short to be turned into a Cartoon Network original series. In the hour-long TV special Dexter's Laboratory: Ego Trip, she later received an Annie Award for her voice as Dexter.

Cavanaugh appeared on many television shows, including Salute Your Shorts, Cheers, Empty Nest, Wings, The X-Files, Everybody Loves Raymond, and ER, as well as supporting roles in the feature films Soulmates and Jerry Maguire. Cavanaugh retired from voice acting in 2001, but some TV shows and films containing her songs didn't appear until 2003. Candi Milo as the voice of Dexter and Nancy Cartwright, her co-star in The Critic, as the voice of Chuckie in Rugrats, after her retirement.
