Christian Fernando Noboa Tello (Spanish pronunciation: [kistjan nooa]; born 9 April 1985) is an Ecuadorian footballer who plays for PFC Sochi and the Ecuadorian national team as a central midfielder.

Club career

At Emelec, Christian was the first to be out.

Christian was drafted in 2007 by FC Rubin Kazan of the Russian Premier League in FC Rubin Kazan. Rubin won its first RPL title in history in 2008. In 2009, he participated in the UEFA Champions League for the first time. Noboa, a captain, helped Rubin Kazan draw against FC Barcelona in a Champions League match by scoring his team's only goal from a penalty kick on September 29, 2010.

Noboa signed Dynamo Moscow for £8 million on January 26, 2012. In a 0–1 home loss to Anzhi Makhachhachhacha, Dynamo's first match was played on March 5th. In the 2012 season, he appeared in ten league games for Dynamo.

Volga Nizhny Novgorod lost 0–1 away on July 21 in his first match of the season. In a 3–2 away victory over Lokomotiv Moscow on August 25, he scored his first goal for the team and season and then cried with joy after not having scored for a while. In a 1–2 home loss to Kuban Krasnodar, his next goal was achieved. In a 5–1 away victory over league leaders CSKA Moscow in his third goal of the season. In a 1-1 away draw against FK Amkar Perm, Noboa scored a free-kick goal on 5 April in a 1–1 away draw.' In a 3–3 away draw against Anzhi on April 21, Noboa scored the first goal.

He scored the winning goal against Terek Grozny (1–0) on August 3rd.

Noboa will not renegotiate terms with his club and is open to offers, as it was revealed on December 29, 2014. FC Dynamo Moscow's official website issued a note on December 31 thanking Noboa for his services and wishing him all the best.

Noboa will be joining PAOK FC on a 2-year deal, according to the club's website on January 7, 2015. Noboa revealed that his buy-out agreement at PAOK is in the region of €1.5 million in an interview with a radio station in Ecuador. Despite the fact that there is no formal interest in any of the above, Noboa hinted that if a Mexican club makes a move, he may be tempted to leave PAOK." I'm hoping that something concrete would appear. According to reports, "I would be able to play in a club here." In a 3–1 away win over Veria on January 8, he made his debut with the club in a 1–0 home win over Platanias and scored his first goal on January 8.

He was in contention for the first two games of the Super League play-offs, as he was scheduled to fly to Ecuador late May in order to begin preparations for the Copa America. The Ecuadorian midfielder confirmed that he would travel to his homeland on May 27th in order to be in contention with his National Team ahead of the tournament in Latin America, which will begin two weeks later.

Noboa began a two-year deal with FC Rostov in the Russian Premier League on July 29, 2015. In a 1–0 victory over FC Amkar Perm on August 28, 2015, he scored a goal on his Rostov debut in a 1–0 victory.

Noboa joined FC Zenit Saint Petersburg on June 4th, 2017 in a three-year contract.

Noboa returned from Rubin on loan from Zenit after the 2017–18 season ended on February 18.

He signed a two-year deal with PFC Sochi in Russia's Premier League, joining many other former Zenit players on the squad on August 5th.

Noboa scored nine goals for FC Sochi, including a late goal against FC Tambov on the matchday 5.

International career

In late 2006, Noboa was called up to the Ecuadorian national team for a string of two unofficial friendly matches against Spanish provincial sides.

He made his official debut against Brazil in a 2010 World Cup qualifier under Sixto Vizuete's new leadership. Noboa scored a spectacular goal in the match to tie the game in the 89th minute for his first international goal. Noboa may have saved Ecuador's qualification as he scored his second goal in as many games against Paraguay on April 1st. He helped Ecuador beat Peru 2–1 in Lima on June 7, 2009, in a World Cup qualification match.
