Chris Wedge Life

Christian "Chris" Wedge (born March 20, 1957) is an American animated film producer and writer whose films include Ice Age (2002), Robots (2005), Epic (2013), and Monster Trucks (2016).

He is a co-founder of Blue Sky Studios and created Scrat, the animated version of the Ice Age comic book.

Early life

In Binghamton, New York, Wedge was born. Wedge spent his youth in Watertown, New York, which was rumored to be the inspiration for his film "Robots" in the town where his film "Robots" takes place, but he later denied this in an interview. He became interested in animation at the age of 12. "Back then, a TV special about kids making cut-out animation in a workshop was on display in a classroom; as I recall it was Yellow Ball Workshop—it was a simple strategy to follow and I followed it." That intrigued me, and it got me started. It was so simple, convenient, and magical in end, and I continued to make things throughout my childhood, teenage years, and then college."

He attended Fayetteville-Manlius High School, graduating in 1975. He earned his BFA in Film from Purchase in New York in 1981 and then received his MA in computer graphics and art education at the Ohio State University. He has taught animation at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, where he met Carlos Saldanha, his future film directing partner.

Personal life

Wedge and his partner, Jeanne Markel, live in Katonah, New York. Sarah and Jack have a daughter and a son.
