The full truth: The 'influx' of phoney photos often appeared in reaction to the increased demand for up-to-date details during large international events. The intention, according to the fact checking charity's researchers, was unlikely to convince people that the photographs were real, but rather to'reduce confidence in data generally.' Chris Morris, the CEO, warned that the growing problem could pose a major threat to democracy, particularly with the upcoming General Election.

Drew Howe (pictured left and right with colleague Adam Bellis) of Widnes, Cheshire, was discovered dead in his lorry's trailer on Lincolnshire's A18 on October 19 last year. According to the Liverpool Echo, assistant coroner Chris Morris voiced doubts following Mr Howe's tales of being 'passed from pillar to post' as he tried to get assistance.
