Cheryl Hickey (born January 8, 1976) is the presenter of ET Canada, a Canadian television network, which was launched on September 12, 2005.
Early life
Cheryl was born in Owen Sound, Ontario, and she served as Student Council President at West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound. Cheryl got the "Mass media bug" while working at a local cable station, and from there she knew she wanted to be a reporter. She studied Radio and Television Arts at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario.
Personal life
On the eve of February 4, she declared on ET Canada that she was engaged. Cheryl Hickey was engaged to Rogers Sportsnet producer Kevin Foley during a talk show discussion on Toronto's sports radio station The FAN 590. They were married in Toronto, Ontario, on October 19, 2008.
On April 23, 2009, a Canadian entertainment website announced that she was pregnant with her first child, and Hickey revealed on her Twitter that son Jaxson had arrived on October 15, 2009. Hickey announced on Entertainment Tonight Canada in 2012 that she was pregnant with her second child. Nyla was born on April 17, 2013.
Career
She returned to Owen Sound, first as a reporter and later as a afternoon news anchor, after graduating.
She moved to The New VR in Barrie, Ontario, a year and a half later. She started as a production assistant and then moved to writing for the six o'clock newscast. She learned how to use a camera and film the news at the same time.
In May 1999, she joined the Global Television Network as a photojournalist and a news chopper reporter. In 2001, she began reporting on the entertainment beat for Global.
The documentary special ten Wired Days at Hickey, a backstage pass to the festival, was produced by Hickey. The Grammy Countdown 2004 pre-show in New York City, the Rolling Stones benefit concert (also known as SARSstock), the Toronto Molson Indy), and a live pre-show for Canada's Walk of Fame are among the events she covered for Global News.
She became ET Canada's host in September 2005.
