María Laura Corradini Falomir (born June 25, 1975 in Mar del Plata, Argentina, but raised in Majorca, Spain), popularly known as Chenoa, is an Argentine-Spanish female music artist who became successful after appearing on the TV contest Operación Triunfo.

Her music style could be described as pop.

Most of her music is in Spanish, although a few tracks on some albums were recorded in English.

Although her albums are not readily available in the U.S. record shelves as they are in Spain and Latin America, they can be found on the Internet.

She has sold more than 1,000,000 records since 2002.

Early life

Chenoa was born in Mar del Plata, Argentina on June 25, 1975, although her family moved to Mallorca, Spain, when she was eight. She grew up in a musical family; both parents were musicians who used to sing in hotels at live music shows. At the age of 16, Chenoa began to sing professionally, taking part in her parents' show. When her mother fell ill, Chenoa had to stand in for her. Her fathers family is of Italian descent and her maternal grandmother is Lebanese.

She graduated as a nursery school teacher and started performing in the Casino de Mallorca shows when she was 20. There, Chenoa acquired a good stage presence before entering the first edition of the Spanish television show Operación Triunfo in 2001.

From 2001 to 2005, Chenoa was in a relationship with David Bisbal.

On June 17, 2022, she married the urologist, Miguel Sánchez Encinas in an intimate ceremony in Mallorca.

Chenoa Career

Career

Chenoa's first album was released in Spain in April 2002. Atrévete, a song whose English version is also included on the album as Mystify, was the first single on this record, but Cuando t' vas was the album's biggest hit, and it was played all over Spain in the summer of 2002. After 61 weeks on the top 100 charts, Chenoa's bestsellers have sold over 500,000 copies in Spain, and she has been nominated for the Spanish music industry's top female artist and best female artist. Year 2002 brought a Spanish tour that featured more than 90 dates. Chenoa won Eurobest, a European singing competition in which she performed "It's Raining Men" in April 2003.

Chenoa's second album, Mis canciones favoritas, was unplugged. It was recorded in Barcelona in April 2003 and featured some of her favourite songs, "Man in The Mirror," "Respect," "Chain of Fools," and "Love of My Life" among others. This CD/DVD was available in a limited edition of 100,000 copies.

Soy mujer was the name of her second studio album, which was recorded in Miami and Madrid in 2003. This album features pop, rock, Latin, Arab, and Anglo sounds, as well as many Spanish album charts, which has sold more than 250,000 copies in less than 47 weeks after 47 weeks in the top 100. In Venezuela, the album debuted at number two, gaining the number two position.

"En tu cruz me claveste," "Soy lo que me da," "Dame" ("which topped the Spanish charts for three weeks in 2004), and Soy mujer. Chenoa was nominated for the Premios Amigo Award for Best Female Artist once more, after an 80-date tour in Spain. In 2004, she was nominated for the Tu Msica award as Puerto Rico's best new artist.

She began her Soy mujer promotional tour in May and June 2004 in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Argentina. She travelled to Panama, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic in December.

The Spanish Radio and Television Associations Federation awarded her the Micrófono de Oro 2005 in April 2005. In 2005, Venezuela awarded Chenoa with the Mara de Oro 2005 for the Best New International Artist of the Year.

In November, Chenoa's third studio album, Nada es ida, was released. This pop-rock collection, produced by Dado Parisini (Laura Pausini, Nek, Tears for Fears), and recorded in Milan, explored a new direction in Chenoa's music. Nada es ida was not limited to a glimpse of her musical evolution, but also of her recent personal challenge. "Rutinas" was the first single to debut in the Spanish charts, and it has since risen to the top of the charts. After 21 weeks in the top 100, the album has been available in Spain and other Latin-American countries. "Tengo ti" and "Donde estés" were two of the following singles. More than 40 cities in Spain have completed their 2006 tour. Maria Arredondo's "Even If You're With Me" covered "Me enamoro del dolor" in English.

Chenoa's fifth studio album, Absurda Cenicienta, was released on October 9, 2007, where she wrote all of the songs herself. "Todo irá bien" was the first song on the album. The album debuted at number one in the iTunes Latin Albums and rose to number two in the Spanish albums charts. In its first week in the Spanish album chart, it was also Gold. In Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Spain, Spain, etc., the single "Todo irá bien" has dominated charts. There are 12 countries in total, with a total of 12.

Chenoa's latest single "Duele" from her forthcoming album Desafiando la gravedad premiered on Cadena Dial for the first time on July 25, 2009. Desafiando la gravedad finds herself co-writing the bulk of her book, this time with writers Yoel Henro and Mauricio Gasca, and she's revisited her style as a pop/rocker. The album opens with a trio of standout songs that hint at the album's direction. "Buenas Noticias" the opener is an upbeat song with acoustic guitar, a syncopated drum track, and bubbly touches of electronic effects. The chorus is particularly hard as Chenoa belts out the refrain as a dense Wall of Sound kicks in, electric guitar, backup vocals, and the like. "Nada de Nada" is more intense, a tense electro-rock song fueled by a compelled electric guitar riff and soaring duet vocals by Mexican diva Gloria Trevi. "Duele," a power ballad of heartbreak that showcases Chenoa's vulnerable side, is interspersed between these two songs. Although these three standout songs get Desafiando la Gravedad off to a good start, there's plenty more to enjoy as the album progresses, with the album progressing and shifting tempo frequently over the course of its dozen tracks.'

In his 2011 World Tour, she was chosen to join Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.

In November 2011, Chenoa introduced Como un fantasma (EP), a Nigel Walker product. "Como un fantasma" was the first single and "Simplemente t" was the second.

Chenoa appeared on the Spanish radio morning show Atrévete (Cadena Dial) from September 2012 to 2013.

Chenoa's sixth studio album Otra dirección debuted on September 17, 2013 in both English and Spanish, according to Alias Music. All of the Spanish lyrics were written by her herself. The album was recorded in London at Phrased Differently studios in Madrid and Barcelona. It came preceded by the lead single "Quinta Dimensión" and its English version "Life's an Equation," which were unveiled in late-June. In late-January 2014, the song "Jrame" (English translation: "Humanized") was released as the second single.

Chenoa's seventh studio album #SoyHumana appeared on Alias Music on April 1, 2016. Almost all of the lyrics were written by herself. Maria Marcus, a Swedish musician, produced the album in Majorca, Spain, and it was entirely produced by Swedish producer Maria Marcus. It came before the lead single "Soy Humana." Then two more singles were taken from the album "T y Yo" and "Encounter En Mi Realidad." Chenoa performed for almost 40 gigs on this album during two years.
