Charlotte Nicdao Life

Charlotte Nicdao (born 14 August 1991) is an Australian actress best known for her role as Jackie Lee in A gURLs wURLd. Lucy was the focus of Nicdao's Content made-for-phone online video series in 2019.

The first episode, about a millennial who wanted to go viral, went viral, with several who mistakenly assumed it was a video of a real accident.

Personal life

Nicdao was inspired by her father, Filipino Australian actor Alfred Nicdao. She would often be called to auditions by her father's rep as a child.

Nicdao has stated that if she could be a book, she would be a traveler for a Winters Night. "Every chapter is a new story and a new world."

Nicdao formed Charlotte Nicdao and the Sloth Orchestra with colleagues from college in 2012. The band successfully crowdfunded their debut EP, which was recorded at Sing Sing studios with Australian music engineer Adam Rhodes. As Nicdao was cast in the NBC television series Camp, plans to debut the album in March 2013 were put on hold, and the EP's release date was postponed until 2014. Nicdao describes herself as "a passive sunshine pop fairy." Nicdao began training as a jazz singer when she was 15, inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, and Keith Jartt.

Plant by Packwood, Nicdao and her partner Bayden Hine, operated a Melbourne plant store called Plant by Packwood. In November 2019, the store was closed.

When asked by 1883 magazine which major movie franchise Nicdao would like to be a part of, she expressed her profound love of Star Wars, especially Yoda, who founded a fan club for girls.

Career

Nicdao studied jazz and classical music at the Victorian College of Arts and studied jazz and classical music. Nicdao discovered that her true love was acting after an audition for a role in which she did not have to be cast.

Nicdao's big break came in 2008, when she was starring Jackie in A gURLs wURLs. Nicdao was auditioning when she was 17. Nicdao completed the final year of high school by distance education with the intention of returning to Melbourne and making a career out of jazz singing.

Nicdao appeared in Josh Thomas' second season cast of Please Like Me in 2014 and played Jenny, Tom's girlfriend.

Lucy in Content, a made-for-phone online video series starring Nicdao, appeared in 2019. When the video of her crashing her car was posted by several who thought it was a real accident, many of them believed it was a viral story.

Nicdao appeared as Poppy in Mythic Quest in 2020. Nicdao referred to the role as her dream job. Nicdao spoke out about the rise of more Asian-American characters in Mythic Quest, saying, "I think there was a time when the only characters available to me were very one dimensional, and now I'm going to play this very complex woman at the center of a story, and it's beautiful."

In Adventure Time, Nicdao voiced a princess character.
