Careers
After being adopted at birth, Dawson grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. She dropped out of high school at age 16 to model in Europe and with Ford Models in New York City. A decade later, she moved to Australia, where she became a well-known model on Australia's fashion scene.
She began as the beauty and fashion editor for Woman's Day in 1997, and then became the style editor for New Idea magazine shortly after. She was the face of the Peter Morrissey fashion brand in 2000, presenting her own fashion segment for Good Morning Australia and appearing in the fashion section of Sydney's Olympic Games opening ceremony. She was Channel Ten's fashion reporter. Beauty and the Beast, as well as a regular panelist on the network's daytime show Beauty and the Beast, and Simply The Best on Burke's Backyard and Channel Nine's Simply The Greatest.
When working with Australian companies Cameron's and Priscilla's as an agent, she decided to try her hand at television. She joined Nine Network as a researcher and worked on projects such as Money and Looking Good.
