Charlie Sanders Life

Charles Alvin Sanders (August 25, 1946-July 2, 2015), an American football player who competed for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League from 1968 to 1977, was an American football player who played tight end.

Sanders was selected for the 1970s All-Decade Team in the NFL and inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.

Early years

Sanders was born in 1946 in Richlands, North Carolina. He attended James B. Dudley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, where he competed for the football, basketball, and baseball teams.

Personal life and death

Sanders and his partner, Georgianna, had nine children and lived in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Charlie jr., Mia, Charese, Mary Jo, Georgna jr, Nathalie, Talissa, Wayne, and Jordan are nine children. After graduating from Michigan State University, one of his children, Mary Joanne Sanders Jr., played football for three years; three of his sons attended Saginaw Valley State University; and three of his sons played football at Saginaw Valley State University.

Sanders' right knee was discovered while undergoing knee replacement surgery. Sanders underwent chemotherapy, but he died of cancer in Royal Oak, Michigan, on July 2, 2015.
