Early life
Chanel was born in Los Angeles, California. She moved between North Hollywood ("Penny Porsche") and New York City with her father, Jamie Dudley, a DJ in New York City who took Chanel to nightclubs as a child. Chanel began singing and dancing lessons at a young age. She started listening to rap music at eleven years old and began rapping at 14. Tupac Shakur's "How Do You Want It" was the song that inspired her to start rapping, and she began rapping at 14. Her father is of Russian Jewish descent. Chanel attended Taft High School in Woodland Hills for two years before returning to school for the final time.

Television career
In 2008, Chanel was introduced to television actor Rob Dyrdek via mutual acquaintances, and shortly after, Dyrdek offered Chanel a job as his receptionist while appearing on the MTV reality show Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory. MTV later announced the series for a second season. The third season of the series premiered in 2011, with a total of twelve episodes; in 2011, the fourth season debuted; Chanel made her acting debut in an episode of MTV's The Hard Times of RJ Berger in the same year. She later became a key cast member of the series Ridiculousness, in which West Coast, Dyrdek, and Sterling "Steelo" Brim, and others discuss online internet videos. Chanel appeared in both the fifth season of Fantasy Factory and the second season of Ridiculousness in 2012. Flipz's character was introduced in the animated film Wild Grinders the same year. The character remained on West Coast until 2013, when she appeared on the third season of Ridiculousness. The sixth season of Fantasy Factory was announced in 2013, and Ridiculousness's fourth season debuted on January 2, 2014.

Chanel began recording in 2009 and began collaborating with many musicians. She produced the song "Melting Like Ice Cream" with Tiffanie Anderson that year. She appeared in the Planet Hollywood film "PHAMOUS" later in the year, coworking with Midi Mafia on the project. Chanel confirmed she had signed Polow Da Don on his record label Zone 4, but she later left the brand without revealing any details. Chanel began posting her own stuff for free download online, later releasing a music video for the song "I Love Money."
In 2012, Lil Wayne signed Chanel to his brand Young Money Entertainment. Snoop Dogg, French Montana, Ty Dolla $ign, Robin Thicke, and Honey Cocaine were among her mixestape Now You Know in 2013.
