Life and career

Currelley-Young was a member of the SOS Band from the late 1980s to 1992, when Chandra left the group to pursue a career in acting and theater. Currelley-Young was chosen by Debbie Allen to be the featured soloist in her play "Soul Possessed" which premiered at the Alliance Theater in Atlanta, Georgia, due to her experience in theater.

Currelley-Young was invited to perform in The Wiz' 1995 Apollo Revival as Evillene The Wicked Witch of The West, and was then randomly chosen to appear in David Petrarca's hit film, Dinah Was, the story of singer Dinah Washington. She began her acting career by appearing in Tyler Perry's Big Happy Family and several others of his films.
