Cha Tae-hyun Career

Career

Cha Tae-hyun began his career as a silver medalist in the 1995 KBS Talent Competition. He will appear in a number of television shows, including Sunflower and Happy Together, over the next two years, as well as numerous television commercials. Cha Tae-hyun, the radio DJ for KBS Cool FM's FM Popular Music with Cha Tae-hyun, was born in 1999 to 2000, and he made his debut in the comedy Hallelujah.

He rose to fame in 2001 with the critically acclaimed romantic drama My Sassy Girl, in which he appeared alongside Jun Ji-hyun. Cha's charisma earned him his status in Korea as well as the Asian region at large, and he extended his fame by releasing his debut album Accident. Son Ye-jin and Lee Eun-ju's latest film Lovers' Concerto (2002), a tragic melodrama starring actresses Son Ye-jin and Lee Eun-ju, was also a hit.

Cha's casting choices, however, were less inspired. He appeared in three comedies: Crazy First Love, Happy Ero Christmas, and Two Guys, all of whom were widely criticized by audiences for their weak scripts and lack of creativity. Later this year, he released his second album The Book.

His 2005 films, including an all-star ensemble cast, and melodrama My Girl and I opposite Song Hye-kyo, the Japanese hit film Crying Out Love in the Heart of the World's remake, were box office disappointments. Highway Star, in which he appeared as a masked trot singer, was a modest success in 2007.

Mr. Radio from 2007–2008, Cha hosted KBS Cool FM's Mr. Radio, and with Ahn Jae-wook, was named Best Radio DJ at the 2007 KBS Entertainment Awards. In BABO (which means "fool" in Korean), a film version of Kang Full's famous online comic, he portrayed the town's jester who has the intelligence of a six-year-old), a six-year-old).

When Cha's comedy film Scandal Makers became the top-one film of 2008, drawing 8.2 million viewers and ranked as one of Korea's biggest hits of all time, he regained his top star status. The film centers on a radio talk show host who was an idol when he learned he already has a daughter (Park Bo-young) and a grandson (Wang Seok-hyun) at the age of 30. Cha is the best male celebrity endorser of 2009 as a result of the film's success.

His 2011 film Champ is based on a true story about a wounded racehorse named Woo-bak and the jockey who attempts to tame her. Cha spent time with the horse before and during filming, luring his four-legged companion with a mixture of carrots and sugar cubes.

He became a regular cast member of the second season of popular variety show 2 Days & 1 Night in 2012 and remained a member until 2019. Although the cast is on different missions, the show, which focuses on introducing various places in Korea to the viewers, has consistently received high viewership ratings.

Cha was a member of a Joseon-era group of robbers banding together to steal ice from a freezer. Cha Ji-hyun's brother made the action-comedy film. In TV show Jeon Woo-chi, an impish Taoist wizard who becomes an unexpected hero, he reprised his role as the titular character.

In the comedy film Slow Video, his third collaboration with director Kim Young-tak, he starred as an introverted man with strong visual acuity who works at a CCTV control center in 2014. In 2015, Cha played a hot-headed but soft-hearted television producer in The Producers.

Cha reprised his role in My New Sassy Girl, a sequel to the 2001 hit film. However, the film did not live up to its predecessors and was a disappointment at the box office. In a cameo appearance in SBS's fantasy drama The Legend of the Blue Sea, he reunited with My Sassy Girl co-star Jun Ji-hyun in a cameo appearance.
