Catherine McGrath Career

Career

McGrath was born in Rostrevor, Northern Ireland, and she learned guitar from her grandmother, who taught her to play and sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." McGrath's parents are both actors and were regular participants at the annual Fiddler's Green Music Festival in County Down, Northern Ireland. McGrath honed her skills by attending her parents on stage and viewing instructional videos online. McGrath began writing songs, but she began making homemade videos of herself performing current pop hits, which she then posted online. McGrath has said that Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves, Kelsea Ballerini, Brad Paisley, and Rascal Flatts were among her country music influences, as she recalled Swift's album "Love Story" in particular for introducing her to country music at the age of 12.

McGrath's videos attracted the attention of Instrumental, a company that recruits people online and prepares them for greater success. She moved to London to work for the corporation, but after only a few months, she began to travel to Nashville for songwriting and recording sessions. McGrath signed with Warner Bros in the summer of 2016. She released her first solo EP One in December the same year. Talk of This Town, her major label debut, was announced on July 27th, 2018. In 2019, McGrath performed a set at the C2C: Country to Country festival, where he joined Hunter Hayes on stage at the O2 Arena to duet on their song "Don't Let Me Forget."
