Cassandra Davis Patton (born July 30, 1964) is an American actress and singer best known for her role as Ella Payne on Tyler Perry's House of Payne and its spin-off series The Paynes.

She has appeared in several other productions under Tyler Perry's direction.

Personal life

Davis married Kerry Patton on January 11, 2017; the two had been dating since 2007. Cassi denied having a stroke in an interview, but revealed instead that she was diagnosed with Bell's Palsy in March 2020.

Life and career

Davis, a native of Holly Springs, Mississippi, attended Spelman College in Atlanta and majored in music. She dropped out of college one credit shy of graduating because she was not allowed to perform religious music at her senior recital. Davis earned her degree at Spelman in 2008 and completed her education in November of that year. She has cited her devout, born-again Christian faith as the primary reason for her professional triumph.

Davis' acting career began in 1988 with a supporting role in the Spike Lee comedy film School Daze. Elizabeth's early television appearances include appearances on Live Single, Married... with Children, Kenan & Kelley, and The PJ's. Madea's Family Reunion, Madea Goes to Jail, Daddy's Little Girls, Boo! A Madea Halloween and A Made in America's Family Funeral.

Davis is best known for her appearances as Ella Payne in Tyler Perry's House of Payne from 2007 to 2012. For her appearance in a Comedy Series, she received two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series. In 2018, she appeared in The Paynes, a House of Payne spinoff that aired on Oprah Winfrey Network. On BET, a revival of House of Payne was ordered in 2020.
